System Of A Down recently announced their Wake Up The Souls Tour starting on April 10th to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in which Ottoman Turks began arresting and executing some 1.5 million Armenians. Now frontman Serj Tankian says the band will consider making their first album in 10 years after the tour ends in April. Serj Tankian says System Of A Down have discussed recording a new album.

The band plans on livestreaming their first-ever performance in Armenia so people all over the world can watch.

He tells Rolling Stone: "There has been talk, and we are going to play this tour, come back and we're going to see where we are. If we have songs that work for System, if I have them and Daron has them. The openness is there to work together, but we haven't made any particular plans that we can announce."

Tankian added that he has written tracks that could work for System Of A Down. He says: "I have a few that could apply, but I'm not sure until the time comes where I can actually play them for the guys and see if it's something that vibes off them."

Drummer John Dolmayan said last year that he was frustrated by the current situation and hinted at creative struggles within the band. He stated: "I've actually asked where their heads were at, where they were going musically. Because it's important for me to know that, then I can do some research on either the bands that were inspiring them at the time so that I could kind of get in the same head space, or even maybe hear some of the material. But to date, I haven't heard any songs, with the exception of a few here and there, that I could really start kind of pointing the direction of my drumming in the future to meet. The other question of when we're going to be doing something, your guess is as good as mine. I'm in a band of four very unique individuals, they are eccentric at times, they are artists. All artists are a little bit cooky I guess, and they're going to do things on their timeline of whenever that works out for them, I guess."
