Sumac - Debut Album Available For Streaming Online

By now, you have probably heard about Sumac which is the new band of guitarist/vocalist Aaron Bradford Turner of Isis fame. The band's debut album is called The Deal and it drops on February 17th via Profound Lore Records. But why wait? You can already stream the entire record on Bandcamp now. The Deal is being described as a "crushing album". Do you agree? Give us your impressions of this first Sumac release.

Besides Aaron Bradford Turner, also in the core of the band is drummer Nick Yacyshyn from Baptists. Bass player Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Botch, These Arms Are Snakes) also joins the duo (as an auxiliary member) and did all the bass tracking on the band's debut album.

The Deal was recorded and tracked with Mell Dettmer in Seattle, WA and mixed by Kurt Ballou at Godcity in Salem, MA and features artwork by Faith Coloccia with design by Aaron Turner.

Tracklist:
01. Spectral Gold
02. Thorn In The Lion's Paw
03. Hollow King

If you're into Hardcore Punk, give his original band a shot, will ya? Or just give them a shot anyhow!

For The Deal, this is quite the crusher, I'd say. Definitely worth a listen and several repeats.

Actually, The Deal sounds massive. I've been listening to it today and it takes me back to when I started listening to Isis. Very good stuff.

I gave it a try despite not being in the mood for sludgy Post-Metal and I'm so glad I did

"Crushing" might not be an overstatement for once.

Quite a weird album, and I wasn't expecting it to be so heavy - the sludge clearly dominates in this one. It was interesting but felt slightly lacking writing-wise

Hollow King is probably my favorite track. The whole album is great, though not as adventurous as I had hoped.
