Nightwish - Band's Song In Olympic Games

A Nightwish song will be heard on the upcoming Olympic Games. The symphonic metallers seem to be everywhere - even in sports! The Australian national team of synchronized swimmers now announced that they will be using their song "Last Ride Of The Day" off Nightwish's Imaginaerum from 2012 for their competition at the Olympics. The track will be played in an orchestral version during the swim performance of the team in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The band feels very honoured and wishes good luck to the entire team.

Finally, a reason to watch synchronized swimming

If one of them drowns, do they all have to.

Unfortunately, yes. Never ever happened but i'd love to see that.

The most glorious part will be if they all drown - they still get the points. If they win medal, their bodies will place on medal board with national anthem playing upfront.

Imaginaerum is one of their best albums, IMO.

People are still sore about Turunen being sacked, unfortunately.

Really? One of? It's their worst for me. It was all just filler with a couple of decent songs. I Want My Tears Back and Song of Myself were the onlt ones i cared for. Clearly we like a different Nightwish haha.

The albums were just better overall, regardless of the singer. I preferred the less theatrical stuff. Other bands do that better.

I'd agree, as the two tracks you listed as liking are two of my least favorites on the album, ha. I really enjoyed the calmer, folk-ier songs, as well as some of their more experimental ones, like Taikatalvi and Slow Love Slow. But there were several great heavy tracks, like Last Ride of the Day and Storytime.

The vocals in Scaretale are strange, but I actually really enjoyed the music. Epic intro.
