Not so much folk metal anymore

Well this was a complete fall from grace...there is little to no Folk here and most songs are simple, repetitive or damn right awful.
Robse is underused in favor of the new clean vocals, which are overused and have cringey lyrics.
The epic sound that made Equilibrium unique is gone and instead, synths and electronic sounds are here in over abundance - to the point it sounds like "pop chart" music at times.
This sounds more like a generic melodeath/metalcore band than the Equilibrium I once knew.

I didn't find folk anymore in this album. Except for some slight oriental / asian vibes from melodies of instruments. It's good that band refreshes their style but in this case they went to worse in my opinion. I really like Skar as singer and have subscribed his channel on youtube, but I don't quite find him fit the band like this. It just changes too much of their style.

Other than that I kind of agree with @SlaytanicBacon on everything. But I'm gonna give this record a few more spins and get used to it. I'm sure it's gonna be better and better.

A great example of a good band creating bad albums, that is, you can actually feel what they want to express and how mature they are, but you won't buy it. Simply, you just get really, really disappointed.

Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Nightwish, Sepultura and now Equilibrium?

Never expected to hate any albums from my (previous) No.1 band.
What a disappointment.

Other than that I kind of agree with @SlaytanicBacon on everything. But I'm gonna give this record a few more spins and get used to it. I'm sure it's gonna be better and better.

Production is massive, that's for sure. But the rest...

It's really bad move from them. It's not slow and thinked evolution in sound, but complete discard of their past. There's nothing left that was the 'core' of this band in case of music. Epic and great melodies abandoned for some shitty 'oh, we are renegades' theme. For me? Worst 2019 release...sadly...

Sounds like Equilibrium is trying to do what In Flames thinks they are good at.

A huge disappointment, sounds like a bad 90's remix album. Almost as bad as Nu Metal...

I guess bands need to evolve but what a huge disappointment is this album for me compared to the previous one that's just epic.

Fuck this is the greatest dissapointment ever! I understand bands should always try to change, but you don't change to become generic and predictable.

Same story I didnt get into this band as teenager , young man in 20's when I was rafing in MS; now old staff is OK, I like it but this is well somehow pop folk to me... good but can be better, and I never will vote to this as best. bad artwork and album title for folk metal

When I first saw the artwork for this album I was already afraid of things to come and I was alas right: their new sound is as bas as the cover.

On the previous album they were 'Born to be epic' and on this one they had a miscarriage.

Sir you're brave enough to give it a second listen.

This is Equilibrium without the elements that made Equilibrium stand out. The "massive" production gets boring really fast, too.

This album is worst than all previous for sure, but objectively it' s not so bad. It's just different. Guys, you can't demand how they should sound like and forbid any changes. It's they own right. I wish them the best and i will be still listening to all new stuff.

Horrible feeling that in this album they have tried too hard to appeal to a wider audience and it's obvious.

Some songs have decent riffs and melodies - actually at times there are some better songs that remind me of Caliban, especially in songs like Renegades and Final Tear, but it's like they put this massively commercialised layer over the songs to the point it suffocates the whole album. For a band that brought us albums like Erdentempel, Turis Fratyr and Sagas, this is a huge waste of opportunity and talent.

You listen to any song from Turis Fratyr and compare it to the song 'Johnny B'... what were they thinking!

There are a lot of nice melodies in this album, and catchy parts. Unfortunately it just feels like it is the wrong guys pulling it off. Don't really know how to explain it. And then there is the simplicity and cringe-worthiness dragging it down...

Cheesy and cheap... big fan of all their albums but this one is garbage.

It's a garbage Equilibrium album, but as a goofy Amaranthe-meets-In Flames pop melodeath album, it's not half-bad.

Looks like they don't even believe in this album since (according to setlist.fm) latest live shows contain only 1-2 songs from this album xDD

Didn't even bother to listen to this one. Equilibrium is not an Equilibrium anymore once the original vocalist and other original members has left the band.
If I give it to listen I would probably just put 0 rating just like that but there is no 0 option available so I wont vote on this one and not bother listening to that.

Yes they can do what they want, but they lost 100% of their original sound in favour of something really commercial - to me it's more an act of betrayal rather than a demand of how they should sound.

I really liked this album, I listened to it with an open mind not really a big folk fan Just few bands, this is not folk but I really liked the whole vibe of this album, I guess am alone here

It's not that bad if you take it completely out of the folk metal category, but .. The clean vocal doesn't belong on this album at all. I could've enjoyed it without that clean vocal, but here I can not even listen to the whole thing.

There are a few good tunes here and there, some catchy, others quite not. However they could've totally done without the 8-bit fuck around with all their tracks. What a waste of time and music.

It's not folk metal anymore but in terms of killer melodies they are still head and shoulders above the crowd. Warm and a bit nostalgic music.

Same here, i started to dislike it even more. From now on this record does not exist for me
