First two singles were pretty good, hoping the rest of the album will be much better than it’s shitty title

Track 3... bringing back Icarus? And also... heard on ultimate-guitar.com that the last two tracks are 12 and 11 minutes respectively.

This was clearly not for me. It felt like a big mess without many good parts. Also the album name is pretty cringe.

You might want to try an earlier album, (unless you already have) maybe P3, that one has a lot of diverse songs, there's something for everyone on that album. P2 and 4 might be good choices as well.

I'm on the fence. Some really good songs/sections here, but most of it feels so disjointed that there's nothing to hold onto besides the hooks.
By disjointed I just mean internal to the sections themselves, as in it feels like they ran peripheryrandomizer.exe which spits out some random melodies and rhythms with no musical intuition.

I've had the promo for a week and haven't managed to fully work out my review yet, and this is a contributing factor; it has great moments, but also parts that don't go together, and the fact that so many of the songs are long (7+ minutes) means that it happens quite a bit. Ultimately though, I'm just not enjoying most of the songs here as much as I enjoy the average Periphery track

the fact that so many of the songs are long (7+ minutes
Also, I'm raging that some tracks are supposed to be 12 or 13 mins long but then there's 2 to 4 minutes of Misha rolling his face across a keyboard (instrument).

Having the final 3 songs all end with multiple minutes of soundtrack/ambient stuff is a bit excessive, I agree; I like the ending to Zagreus, but at the very least leave it alone on the song after if the album closer is going to be 1/3 ambience

I agree the song lengths are really excessive without adding anything interesting to them. Overall a pretty average release from them

I love me some djent but I can't get past the whiny pop vocals. They annoy the shit out of me

I can't really get into this. It has overly complex song structures, with too many chugging and uninteresting riffs, and disrupted rhythms and flows. It seems needlessly lengthy, especially those last two tracks, and I hate the vocals too. Maybe that's the whole djent thing, but if this is what djent is all about then it doesn't appeal to me unfortunately

Based on the stuff you do and don't like, I kinda expect you'll hate this, but I'm curious to see your response

Interesting/frustrating listen. This album has a LOT of good sections. I'm talking 9/10 quality. I generally liked the more technical sections with harsh vocals, but even some of the more pop-catchy choruses and clean parts were very well put together. Overall though, it's a very inconsistent. Some passages and transitions end up being super sloppy and feel almost rushed. I like the jazz section early on in the album, but the flow into and out of it was abysmal. Same with the ambient outros. I can usually deal with this if its a bad song or two, but with the track lengths it's pretty much bits and pieces of every track that don't work.
Also, as expected, this album is WAY too long.

Gave this many listens to make sure my opinion was solid. For me, it's their best album. While nothing on this album is quite as amazing as "Reptile" from P4, the weaker moments are hardly as disappointing as on the aforementioned album. I enjoy just about every song, even the synth-pop "Silhouettes". At times "Everything If Fine!" is too in-your-face, but that damn outro is amazing. "Dying Star" is the most consistently meh song, but overall better than "Crush" or "Follow Your Ghost" off P4. This album for me lacks the disruptive skippable songs of all their other albums. I love Spencer's vocals overall, (save for a few cheesy harmonies) and the final high note on "Wax Wings" is one of the highlights. The chorus of "Wildfire" is great, and I especially liked the transition to the jazz section. "Zagreus" and "Dracul Gras" are both great. The latter drags on for a bit but has some great lyrics. The album closer "Thanks Nobuo" is the perfect closer, even with it's breathtaking ambient outro.
Fanboy gushing aside, other opinions here make perfect sense. I'm just glad I enjoyed it this much. Possible AOTY for me

I love how this album is categorized under the style of "Djent"
In spite of what I felt was a lack of cohesion, I thought this album was an excellent edition to the djenre and highly enjoyable.

Giving this album the 5 it deserves solely for the very stupid name. Must have taken many beers to come up that that, and soooo many more to actually stick with it. Cringe af.

Right, especially as this band has historically extremely serious album titles.

I actually don't know them much, and didn't bother checking the older names tbh. I don't generally mind stupid now and then. Metal doesn't always have to be serious, although I prefer mine to be. But this album name just sounds like a whining teenager posting on tweeter. It's not stupid, but more very very cringe.
