Glam metal isn't most people's favorite genre. Generally, I say that this is deserved, but for this album, we can make an exception.

I had never heard of D-A-D; I came across No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims while wandering on Metal Storm, and so I decided to listen to it because I normally never listen to glam metal, I've never been a big fan of it. I must say that I am rather happy with this discovery because the album is glam metal without looking like it, because it manages to concentrate all the qualities of the style without keeping its disadvantages. Most of the music is catchy and very enjoyable, without resembling the idea that we have of the genre.

I admit, I was a little curious that a band called D-A-D had a song called "Jihad"; one doesn't necessarily expect a glam metal band to tackle such a sensitive subject (even more so today). The opening track, "Sleeping My Dad Away", is probably the best; it introduces the album very well, and all the music follows a common thread that allows the album to hold its own without becoming boring.

The second half of the album is slightly below the first part (probably because, after the initial excitement of discovering the record, the album seems a little less innovative). It gives off a somewhat familiar character in my opinion, which contributes a little to its general appreciation. Still, even if it is very nice, No Fuel For The Pilgrims has its faults. For example, the lyrics are not the most poetic, even if at times you can feel a certain inspiration, and the music does not really mix up the formula; following the trend of the introductory songs, each track simply follows the theme of the album without innovating.

However, like I said it before, it's good to keep a common thread, even if the music could stand to be a little more varied while remaining within the general theme of the album. But the album gives us a good time by making us a little nostalgic for an era that most have not experienced. You will not appreciate this album for its finesse, but for its liveliness.

In short, a very nice album to listen to, without any hassle, and don't be afraid of the style: you can listen to it without problem, I guarantee it.
