Love at first listen here! For both of their albums actually. This sounds like modern Mastodon in the bright and beautiful atmosphere, but with a healthy dose of Dvne heavyness and groove. There are some nice Gojiresque chugs here and there as well. Great album from start to finish, so many great riffs and head-banging moments. This will probably end up high on my end of year list.

It's released within' realm of the debut album. Nothing surprises me here except of wanking of Mastodon, Gojira and Dvne.

Btw, new Dvne is miles ahead of this.

The first song feels out of place here; it's a bit too classic/thrash metal-leaning for my likings (there's some of those elements later, like on My Inferno, but they feel more natural there), and the vocals having a bit of a Chuck Billy vibe doesn't help with that. I'd say starting from near the end of song 2 that the album moves more towards my preferences, but given the FFO bands namedropped above, I don't like it as much as I would hope
