New from Australia! The Day Everything Became Nothing! God, that's a long name, as a matter of fact when I received this Cd I thought the band name was "Le Mort" and the album title was The Name Everything? and so on.
Apart from the lengthy and weird name, these Aussies bring us their album "Le Mort" a devastating Grindcore attack, courtesy of No Escape Records, from Australia too.
I know Grindcore is not the most innovative genre out there, but let's give a chance to these guys, first of all let me explain what is the band all about, the mix contains some down-tuned guitars, great and strong bass lines, great drumming (not so insane as the usual Grindcore though), and undecipherable vocals, and when I say undecipherable, I mean it, you can't understand a single word the singer is saying (and the booklet doesn't contain lyrics, so, we'll never know).
The overall looks are more than appealing me thinks, the cover art and booklet are great, the whole layout is nicely done, although it don't contain lyrics. The music is not brutal as many Grindcore bands around, but let me tell you that I'm not such a big fan of Grindcore, but The Day Everything Became Nothing (phew..) really got me, catchy riffs and great rhythms will hook you in.
Some songs contain catchy lines like "Gravel" and "Method" , while some contain variation in the vocals, like "Horror" which is a duet between Black and Death Metal vocals. The Cd even include a 3 minute closer song, un unthinkable thing in most of Grindcore albums! (well, not really?)
Mid-paced Grindcore? Well, that's not exactly it, but let's say that these guys take things slower than most of the Grindcore freaks out there.
Some of the songs may sound repetitive after a few spins, but the initial impression leaves a good mark on the listener, besides that a Cd so good as this one, deserves a listen once In a while.
