Some quite typical genre for English music is Hard rock, NWOBHM or Hardcore, and this review will be about a band in the last genre, Hardcore, one of the biggest genres in England today.
And the band, Rate of Depress, is a very young band, that was formed back in March 2002, and made their live debut in September the same year, and this album, "Bleach the Sky" is their debut album.
So this is a band of the new era, or what you want to call it.
As you might know now, after my year in Metal Storm, is that Hardcore and Nu-Metal isn't my genres, not eve near, so I don't have any kinds expectations on this kinds of releases, because their never pleases me.
And this is no exception, even if this band has some parts that really could sound good, if they killed the other. Like the singer, he sings in three kinds of ways, one screamy, typical heavier Hardcore, one that's very alike the terrible Serj Tankin from System of a Down.
And then the last way, that's very good; it's a clean and melodic voice, that's really surprised me.
But unfortunately he can't save the album with just one of their ways of singing, plus that he sings in that way to seldom.
So I won't take anymore of your time with this one, because if you like Hardcore, especially of the new era, this is for you, if you don't like Hardcore, I don't think that you'll have to care.
But before I end it, I'll have to say that this at least surprised me in one way, and that's one more then it use to do, so keep that in mind, if you're divined, at least check them up, if you're into Hardcore.
Check Out: The opener "D.O.A" is quite good, and then the singer, when he sings clean.
