Evidence One, that first was supposed to be a side-project, has turned out to be one of the most discussed Melodic Metal/Hard Rock bands around. With only one album behind them almost everyone knew who there were, and with such success, a successor just had to be released.
It took 2 years, but now are Frontline's guitarist, Robby Böbel and Domain's vocalist, Carsten Lizard back with "Tattooed Heart", the album that shall make Evidence One's banner stay high.
An evidence of Evidence One's big success is the signing with Nuclear Blast, the German Metal label No.1, signed E1 in early 2004.
I own their debut, but I've only listen on it once and when I got this second I thought I should take out their first from my collection to listen if something happened, and judge of my surprise when couldn't find it. I still don't know where it is, I must have lent it to someone, but I can't remember to who.
So when I started to listen to this, it was with totally neural ears, and it didn't make me fall off my chair, at first.
But after a couple of spins, the album grew, and today, after countless spins I'm holding this album pretty high, it has grown for each spin and it's actually still growing.
The albums strongest part is the first songs, "Moonsigh", "Virus in My Veins" and "Written in Blood", and maybe even the title-track "Tattooed Heart" and the last track "Child of Insanity" and, of course, the good production.
Regarding to the label (promo-sheet) so is this album more Metal than the previous one, E1 has turned from Hard Rock to Metal. If that's so, I must say that it's impressive, because in this album the band sounds like a pure Melodic Metal band, and not really like an old Hard Rock band.
But on the other hand, what is the bad part of the album? Well, maybe that's the material. Don't get me wrong here, the songs are great, they're holding pretty high standard, but it's still the only weak point, they are so even. There are too few songs that's really different from another, and that's something I find as a weak spot.
But it's not so you'll start hating the album the first day, not even close. Because songs like "Virus in My Veins" and "Moonsigh" is songs a true Melodic Metal fan can't stop loving.
So if you're really into Melodic Metal, Hard Rock or even AOR this is an album you should really check out. Or you're maybe a fan or Frontline and Domain, or even E1's debut, well, what are you waiting for?
Check Out: "Moonsigh", Virus in My Veins", "Written in Blood", "Tattooed Heart" and maybe even "When Thunder Hits the Ground" & "Child of Insanity".
