+ Hollow Craving [Video]

Ok, I'm not doing the whole "this member was drummer of this band, and the bass player was founder member of?" routine, I'm just gonna say that Soulrelic, the object of this review, has members from Eternal Tears Of Sorrow and Reflexion in their ranks, so it's up to you to find out what members are here.

Anyway, this new band is riding the "Love Metal" train along with many, many bands in Finland, including founders of the trend, HIM. The band relies in catchy melodies, some electronic samples and overall rockish atmosphere, so if you're looking for something to headbang with, check elsewhere.

The promo Cd contains only 3 songs and a video, things starts with "Hollow Craving" a catchy song, sadly the first thing that doesn't convinces me is the vocalist Tommy Suomala, his voice is not bad, but I don't find it extraordinary, I think it lacks any of the feelings needed for this kind of music, doesn't sound melancholic or romantic or nothing, just a typical rock voice. "Kiss Of A Saint" is a good song, catchy and commercial, two important things in Love Metal. Last song is the ballad "Dying Angels", nice female backing vocals, but nothing else. A video of the "Hollow Craving" song is also featured in the Cd, the video is low budget and extremely mediocre, so don't get your hopes too high.

So, I see these guys signed to a label like Spinefarm or maybe a non-Metal label, their music can be hardly described as Metal, but since a lot of bands are doing this, and the background of the band members is definitively Metal, this might appeal some Metalheads. Me? I'll wait for the upcoming Eternal Tears Of Sorrow album to get a glimpse of some of these guys doing good music.
