"I want to give you more than i can..."

Blazing Eternity hail from Denmark and they are a really worth-checking band. After the dark metal of "Times And Unknown Waters" where they co-operated with Kim Larsen (ex-Saturnus, Of The Wand And The Moon) and Anders Ro Nielsen (Saturnus) they didn't continue as someone would have expected. They got rid of their extreme elements and managed to unfold their more fragile side with their second full-length release, "A World To Drown In".

They still keep a metal oriented touch, but you can't call them a metal band with "A World To Drown In" since they incorporate many rock elements as well in their sound. And since they deal, lyrically, with the fragile side of human emotions and their atmosphere is really soulful and gentle I would call "A World To Drown In" as an esoteric/emotional metal/rock album since there's nothing more fitting best Blazing Eternity's second attempt if you want to give it a label.

The album breathes melody and tenderness and every member of the band is pouring his soul to the compositions of "A World To Drown In" with the album itself being a world to drown in and cherish deep and heart-rending emotions. And believe me, the cover prepares the listener of what to expect in the most appropriate way with the weeping figure lying there, "faltering amidst love and downfall". The production is very good and helps the compositions keep their fragile approach, making them sound even better with every instrument being vivid.

The guitar work varies from heavy or softer guitar riffing to acoustic guitar chords, with the first escalating the emotional charge of the compositions and the second touching you so deeply that you real can't escape their magical beauty. The rhythm section may have an accompanying role most of the time but you will notice here and there some really creative and very interesting passages. As for the vocal lines I don't have that much to say, they speak for themselves painting the soundscape with colors of the heart, with scarlet emotions of a bleeding soul that is longing. They have that tender melodic approach that caresses the listener's soul in the most beautiful way, leaving well-shaped scars behind. A good addition is the slight use of the female vocals and the keyboard melodies.

Well, the album consists of 9 compositions and almost every single song is a high-light. Songs that stand as high-lights are the fragile and emotional "Stars In July", "En Nat Bliver Det Sommer" which seems to be a tribute to The Smiths judging from its sound, the very personal to me and utterly melancholic "To Meet You In Those Dreams", the meaningful and beautiful "Cover Me Your Eyes" and the dynamic and at the same time touching "A World To Drown In" and "(Don't) Tell The World".

If you're searching for quality and pure emotional music then "A World To Drown In" is the album you're searching for, don't miss it!

"Let me find you in those dreams..."
