Shadyon is one of the last signatures of the French Heavy Metal label, Brennus Music. This young French combo that plays a nice Melodic Heavy Metal with some little touches of Progressive music is influenced by bands like Evergrey, Iron Maiden or even Freak Kitchen! With such influences it was impossible to do something bad hehe and well more seriously "Shadyon" is a good start no doubt?

Shadyon plays Heavy Metal. However they didn't fall into the trap of Power Metal or even in the one of the classic Heavy. I mean that they have some good things in their music. For example the guitars riffs clearly remind me the way of playing of IA (Freak Kitchen). On the other hand it's not so "happy" and we have a lot of dark atmospheres in the music and a song like "Funeral" is clearly influenced by Evergrey when the others songs also have a lot of dark Progressive touches in their composition. It's modern and original and the band simply avoids the clichés of the genre. It's a really nice point for them in my opinion, they don't follow the trends and knew how to write a music which isn't linear and unoriginal. I'm not saying that we're in front of a revolutionary album, but it's a good one and we will probably hear some good stuff about them in the future (the proof is that they already did the first part of Evergrey or Dark Age?.).

As always with the Brennus' bands, the production is not bad at all. I mean that the bootleg is really good and looks pro. On the other hand, even if it's clearly not bad, the recording is a bit weak. It's a first album, so I'm sure that it will be better with time.

Shadyon is a promising band really. Their music is still perfectible but I have to say that I believe in this band. You know, Alain Ricard the manager of Brennus Music is rarely wrong when he signs a new band and again he found a promising combo for the French Metal scene. Let's hope that their future will follow this good way, they deserve it?
