This album sounds incredibly different than their previous material; "May God Strike Me Dead" shows an experienced band with polished songwriting, tight musical skills, super-catchy riffing, technical approaches, greater vocals and clean production (not muddy and dried as in "Killing Absorption"). As you can see they changed a lot of things for this album, finally we have a band that will be able to say "You think big names are great because you haven't heard us yet".
Maybe I'm overreacting a bit, but even if I am, metalheads will know this album brings fresh ideas to the table while hearing the marvelous fourth track ("Passion") or the ascending solos found everywhere in this record?(Note: I said fresh, not original). The structures have great rising progressions that build interest in the listener from the beginning to the very end; the technicality in this album is very sharp, the guitar solos are overwhelming and the breakdowns are incredibly tight; the drummer adds irregular drum patterns thus generating a fascinating tempo in each song featured in this album.
I've read some reviews saying this album is good only "between meals", I think they're stupid. This might not be the greatest album of the year, but "May God Strike Me Dead" will be able to throw a great battle with the big albums of the scene?Who knows, maybe they'll win in a few years with their next album; right now this is just a very good album.
Best Tracks: "Passion", "Twisted Reality", "Fag-End"
