My Top Post-90's Black Metal Albums

Thumbs up: +1
Listen to these today. I limited later Enslaved releases, as they become less and less "black metal" as time goes on. That is not to say you should not check them out.

1. Immortal - Sons Of Northern Darkness
2002 The thrashiest of the black? The blackiest of the thrash.
2. Enslaved - Mardraum - Beyond The Within
2000 I would say this is actually their best album in a pure BM style.
3. Enslaved - Isa
Whereas this may be the best of the more melodic stuff they have been putting out.
4. Gorgoroth - Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam
2006 Best album since Under the Sign of Hell, no other album has come close since. So much evil.
5. Absu - Tara
2001 Words cannot describe the guitar and drumming at play here. This is BM for technical metal fans. IMO the only USBM group worth your time.
6. Absu - Abzu
2011 After the dissapointment of Absu-Absu, this was a welcome return to form. Guitar is amazeballs.
7. Cult Of Fire - मृत्यु का तापसी अनुê
2013 Gorgeous black/death hybrid
8. Death Karma - The History Of Death & Burial Rituals Part I
2015 Equally brilliant as the former with a slightly different approach.
9. Ascension - Consolamentum
2010 Crushingly harsh and evil. Too bad the follow-up couldn't deliver.
10. Leviathan - Scar Sighted
2015 Haunting mix of ambient and pure throwback black metal aggression.
11. Immortal - All Shall Fall
2009 Nobody else brings it as consistently as Immortal. While everyone else evolves, they are perfectly at home with the icy riffage we know and love.
12. Nargaroth - Jahreszeiten
2009 Total surprise. I could care less about anything else the Narg puts out, but this was special. Am I the only one who loves "Frühling?"
13. Lunar Aurora - Andacht
2007 Likely their best album. Nightmarish avant-garde madness.
14. Taake - Noregs Vaapen
2011 Not quite as good as Nattestid, but this is a close second for me. Plenty for the guitar-player to love. Wonderful melodies.
15. Srogość - W Szaleństwie - 2014 Small-label gem of a understated symphonic BM act. Bandcamp now.
16. IXXI - Assorted Armament
2007 Heavy, highly political. Great use of samples.
17. Darkthrone - Hate Them
2003 A little more punk edge, but retains the black metal harshness and grit.
18. Nagelfar - Virus West
2001 Great riffs
19. Otargos - No God, No Satan
2010 The vocals here are absolutely demonic.
20. Cultes Des Ghoules - Henbane
2013 Likely the most bizarre-sounding album ont he list. Don't let the song playtimes turn you off. This is a journey into insanity.
21. Drautran - Throne Of The Depths
2007 Very unusual. The vocals are like old-school Dillinger Escape Plan, and the concept is underwater mythology.

Strange Nagelfar choice. Not a bad album but the favourites usually go to the other two.

I'll have to check those out, but regardless this list had to be all 2000's and beyond. Looks like the favorites are from the 90's.

That's true, I somehow misread your title and thought this was from 90s onwards. Regardless, check out those other two albums anyway.
