Posts: 6614 Written by blackwreath13 on 24.09.2021 at 16:15 True, and I suppose the 90's doesn't either, it's just that most metal genre's began in the 80's, and the transaction from hard rock to heavy metal truly began, aswel as thrash, death, power and so on, but the 90's sprung forth many sub genre's of those, aswel as black metal, and then the 00's even more so, when I think every sub genre has been done, something new always appears.

My favorite death metal came out in the 90s: Crimson, Storm of the Light's Bane, Bolt Thrower's heaviest albums, and Death's progressive albums... not to mention great black metal as well (At the Heart of Winter 1999)

Posts: 249 Written by F3ynman on 24.09.2021 at 23:52 There’s this narrative that Grunge killed Metal in the early 90’s because the Traditional Heavy Metal bands decreased in popularity or split up, Glam died and Thrash kind of disappeared (I see it more as it morphing into Groove, Death and Black Metal). I think that’s bullshit imo, it didn’t die it just evolved. I find the opinion to be held by more old school types and I think it’s a closed minded way to think about it, personally.
