Bad English

Its good doom, a bit different if you think as other doom bands, it has a bit post, a bit sludge but not so much as put into genre. A bit Arkham Witch or The Lamp Of Thoth way

Listened a bit on bandcamp, definitely worth paying attention to, I will try and listen to the whole thing soon.

It's not doom. It's more like psychedelic with a bit of prog touch.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

Disagree there mate. For me, this is mostly doom in the tradition of Candlemass and Sabbath with a side-order of classic hard rock. A little psych maybe, but I'm not hearing the prog. This is a very promising second effort and one of my favourite albums so far this year.

but I'm not hearing the prog.

People slap the prog label on to just about anything these days. This album in particular probably gets tagged that way because of track lengths, whereas musically it's pretty straightforward heavy/epic doom metal with psychedelic undertones.

It could be because some songs go beyond the verse-chorus-verse structure of songs, one of the traits of progressive music.

Admittedly I haven't listened to this in full and so can't comment on that, but from the couple tracks I remember playing, they didn't strike me as progressive. Just because it doesn't follow a 4/4 song structure doesn't inherently mean it's progressive; imo it has to have the trademark alternating time signatures for it to warrant that descriptor.

But I suppose that depends on whether you think something like 2/3 or 6/8 are individually progressive, or if the need for variation between signatures is what makes something progressive.

metalbrat said prog touch, so he does not say the music is progressive rock. No harm done.

Ya that's a fair point, it's not like a comparison was made to them being Dream Theater. I just have a personal crusade against the ease and frequency of prog being administered in places it doesn't belong.

Progressive rock and metal can be a lot of things, it does not have to be Dream Theater to be progressive.
I agree, some people classify music as prog-rock or prog-metal with a lot of ease, just enough sometimes if the musicians are competent
