This album always gets bashed for being different, and even though it has some awful moments but "The Whore, The Cook And The Mother" and "Under Your Wings And Into My Arms" are two of my all time favorite MDB songs

I think this album is very good. Different to their other stuff, but i like it.

I wouldn't say it's retarded but it's definitely on the odd side of things. Which is understandabe considering it comes from a dream one member had at the time, and dreams are pretty weird anyways.

I personally think dreams are fascinating in how bizarre they are. I even keep a notebook close to my bed to write out my dreams as soon as I wake up just to have a laugh months later. I once dreamt the aliens came to earth and I saw Don Francisco hang himself out of desperation as the aliens came closer to him and wanted to lobotomize him.

I have no idea why you wouldn't make at least one song out of that.

A bit industrial, only song strands out was Heroin Chick, guest vocalist chick was awesome and his spoken parts was awesome to na na nananana

Actually, while I thought this to be crap at the time it turned out to be a good album. Much better than most of their recent stuff.

I had same feeling when I was listening it in 2008 something and not now
about recent I will listen them and judge then , but latest defiantly was better as this

A Line Of Deathless Kings, For Lies I Sire, Evinta are a lot lot lot worse

Yea never quite got the fuss about this one. It's different, and sure not that great, yet far from their worst stuff, especially the atrociously lame For Lies I Sire - everytime I mention it I get a cold shiver down my spine...

It's different, but that does not make it bad. Of course, this is far below most of their works, but, tbh, I actually wish they would go this way again.

It's not my favorite My Dying Bride record, but I applaud them doing something so different. 'Heroin Chic' kind of makes me cringe, but I really do love some tracks on here, especially 'Under Your Wings and Into Your Arms'. That song is killer.

I love this album !!! This is the best album of My Dying Bride ! I can't get what's so different here ? Exactly the same I love The Dreadful Hours and Like Gods Of The Sun - The Whore The Cook And The Mother is amazing ! also Apocalypse Woman , Base Level Erotica and Under Your Wings and Into Your Arms - really very underestimated record IMO. I know that with the taste is like with the ass - everybody has its own ;-) . But I wanted to tell you this ! 10/10

This album was a weird turn for the band, I understand that they felt it necessary to try a new sound and style at that moment in time, but this never really worked for me unfortunately. I'm not necessarily saying they shouldn't have taken this route, just that it didn't do anything for me personally, I'm not keen on the particular distorted guitar tone they used, and the vocals sounded too grungy for me, the riffs though are actually very good, and I like the more up beat tempo parts, it's just the majority of the album bored me a wee bit.

The opening track, "The Whore, the Cook and the Mother", "Apocalypse Woman" aren't actually bad tracks, probably because in parts they remind one of Paradise Lost, the closer "Under Your Wings and into Your Arms" is actually one of my overall favourite MDB songs, the rest doesn't do it for me at all unfortunately.

A record that when it was released, when I was 20 years old, it blew me away with its sound. It was out of the ordinary.
In those days my friends told me that it was very bad, that it sounded electronic, and blah blah blah. I was on my own.
It became an album that accompanied me in my solitude and my moments with the girls at that time.
A very erotic record, very atmospheric. If you let yourself go, it takes you out of this world.
