Sounds a lot like (old) Inflames+Insomnium+An Abstract Illusion+Be'lakor. Can not stop listen to it.

Thanks Nik for staff picking this. I'd seen it on a couple of people's lists but hadn't checked it out yet. Have rectified that now. It really is quite good.

It was actually sgtrobo who mentioned it in the shoutbox one day and made me check it out. We very often find out about stuff because of you

Awesome album! I am not a fan of melodeath, but this is excellent.

Purchased this two months ago, but to be honest, I didn't really remember anymore why until just now. Had to check their Bandcamp and then it crossed my mind again, it was a specific fan comment that had piqued my interest:
"Epic is the best word to describe this. How they managed to fit so much into such a short album is incredible."
Turns out that the person leaving that particular comment on Bandcamp was... sgtrobo.
Whatever they pay you in commission, I'm sure it pays off.

Am I the only one who didn't care for it ? I thought it was pretty generic.

It depends.
They surely didn't reinvent the wheel and that's why it's just a low 8/10 in my book. But I can see why die-hard fans of the genre may dole out their nines and tens here. After all, it's one of the very best melodeath albums we have seen since 2019 and all the big names have since then simply failed to deliver.
On the other hand, I can also totally see that this may be a snorefest of epic proportions for fans of groove, stoner, prog and sludge. Just as an example, let me listen to the greatest song Sabaton have ever recorded and I will still most likely not be able to "get", enjoy and appreciate it, simply because their genre is the exact opposite of my musical preferences.

Ok, they create anything new, but the songwriting is extremely inspired and soulful.

Missed this reply when it was first posted. Glad to see Eternal Storm still getting the occasional call-out (although I know you're its champion here), of all the melodeath nominees from that year, it's the one that I've gone back to most frequently.
As far as Fallensun goes, I think it's pretty good, but this is a pretty strong year for melodeath, between a lot of big names putting out releases and some interesting newcomers coming through, both very generic (Act Of Denial, As The Sun Falls) and slightly more different (Apallic, arguably Ulthima), and I didn't get much out of this one in comparison. Of the two bands with names relating to the decline of a celestial body that have released generic melodeath debuts in the latter half of 2021 (I'm not sure what the fact that there's more than one entry in that category says about melodeath, or metal in general), I would opt for As The Sun Falls over Fallensun.

Yeah, As The Sun Falls are really good. Thanks for the tip, dude!
They remind me a lot of old Insomnium (and Insomnium-clones like Aetherian), Tuomas Saukkonen's various projects and Finnish melodeath in general.
Nevertheless, I like Fallensun a tad more, because in my opinion they deviate at least a little from the oh so typical basic formula of totally generic melodeath. The hoarse vocals and the slight black metal slant somehow appeal a little more to me.

That introductory melodic passage is one of the perfect pieces of prologue to an album I have heard this year.

Nothing super ground-breaking here but it's still a pretty polished effort, especially for a debut. Just wish it was more than 34 minutes. Looking forward to seeing what these guys do next.
EDIT: After giving this a few more spins it just keeps getting better. The Language, Death, Eternal might be my favorite track of '21.

Yep, still my melodeath AotY. Melodeath rarely grows on me, but this one does. The songwriting has a bit more going for it than a lot of melodeath I think. The shift at a bit past 5 minutes into Language Death Eternal still gets me

Extremely strong debut. "The Language, Death, Eternal" is a excellent song. The rest of the album is very good. Hoping for a longer second effort from them !

Great debut with super riffs and epic melodies. As everyone mentioned, The language,Death,Eternal might find a place in an 'ever,' list.

A truly great debut, it has beautifully crafted melodies, which reminds me of Insomnium at times, with a bit of Shylmagoghnar, yes it may seem a wee generic at times, but it's very enjoyable. "The Language, Death, Eternal" is the clear stand out track for me.
