Yeah, this is easily the most promising upcoming release of the year so far.

I mean one of the most promising for sure, but Cult of Luna's new album is looking to be an absolute masterpiece as well. Their Cold Burn track literally gave me shivers and made me tear up on my first listen lol, especially the 7 min and onward mark of the track.

Those two albums will most likely be in my top 10 by the end of the year, will have to wait on the full release though!🤘

Solid good slow and heavy in music composition, vocals funeral doom. One of greatest FD bands, really good album, a bit better as Skepticism. More melodic, more faster. Skepticism was a bit slower. But then this is better but boat are good.

This is a decent and successful funeral doom album, which means that it leaves me feeling emotionless and empty inside, like I'm lost in a void of misery and deep depression for which there is no escape. Which is exactly what I expected it to do

Did a bit of skimming through the record (as much as that is possible for a funeral doom metal record) and seems like they are as emotionally potent as ever. Can't wait to get completely soaked in the sad beauty of this band again.

Due to the timing of this release, can't help but listen as if it's a dirge for Ukraine. Fuck authoritarianism (bold stance, I know).

Solid record. It's very accesible for a funeral doom record, only 57 minutes

Shape of Despair are just too good. Fantastic release

This album is great. Sure they brought nothing new to the table but they are MASTERS of their craft. And that craft is making guitar leads with few notes that make you weep in an instant.

I thought the same, man. The timing could be a coincidence but... Shit, it feels like a warm hug that I need.

Is it too early to declare my album of the year?

If despair would have an actual shape, it would be something like this album. Sorrow can be very powerful but not everyone gets to master it like these guys do.

I enjoyed this. It's what you'd expect from Shape Of Despair - solid atmospheric funeral, but the hype is inflated. It isn't as strong as previous releases.

Must admit that I expected and hoped for more... Good songs, but for me it completely lacks those spine crushing emotional sounds from the previous release.

Weak, much weaker than the previous one, unfortunately. wasted 7 years… the previous one was a masterpiece, and this one is a hastily made sequin. Nothing interesting except 2 songs.

Melancholic and emotional experience, listening to this album. Good funeral doom.

This is fantastic. Crushing relentless doom, with ethereal female vocals and very atmospheric/emotional guitar leads.
