This is pretty enjoyable. I liked I, The Deceiver and the title track is even better! I don't know if this has much ''speed'' for most parts but maybe that's why it worked for me

He has been gradually dialing back on the speed since Coagulating but each release has been every bit as enjoyable for me.

The most consistently, brilliantly, genius metal artist out there.
Every song is memorable and enjoyably catchy as fuck. He just knows how to write great songs. I'm sure he could write a top 10 pop single at the drop of a hat if he felt the need to.
Love Hellripper to bits!!! Long live James McBain and whatever the hell he decides to do.

Well, well Mr Hellripper...
I bow to you. You managed to bring back spirit of Quorthon and his early music and mixed it with handful of early Venom. Suddenly I am 14 again and wearing Bathory's first album t-shirt. Great stuff!

Not my preferred genre at all, but very solid for the style, I can totally see why it's getting such an enthusiastic response. I've not seen it mentioned yet but I thought the closing song Mester Stoor Worm was particularly great

Hopefully James and Hellripper start to get the attention they deserve. Hellripper haven't put out a bad album yet, although my personal favourite is the debut. This is an interesting, slight deviation from their other stuff - it somehow manages to sound modern, melodic and more old school black at the same time. They're great live too - saw them in Nottingham last year and should be suing James for the serious whiplash which entailed.

Insanely good for one person, this album has the classic feel to me that is missing in a lot of metal recently

Aren't they just! Already got my Boston Music Room ticket. I think that'll be my 4th time of seeing them.

An instant album of the year contender and my favourite Hellripper's release so far! The blend of styles and influences makes this record a blast from cover to cover! And that artwork is just 🤌

I will have to listen to this more thoroughly. I put a couple tracks on in the car on the way to work and didn't really understand the hype.

Gotta agree, really don't get the hype here. I'm not too big into this style, but the blackened touch should mean I like it more and not less. No more than a 7.

Another listen made my opinion more positive for sure. Very impressive album for a one man band, especially with the layered guitar tracks. I am not a huge fan of the vocals and production, especially on the flat sounding drums, which hinders my overall rating. The vocals and drums are not bad by any means, but nowhere near the same level as the fantastic guitar work that massively overshadows every other component.
I can see myself liking this more with further listens though.

I really like his vocals. They're quite unique and fall somewhere between black and thrash. They're also quite easy to understand so I can sing along, which is no mean feat for extreme metal with non-clean vocals.
I get what you're saying about the production though. I feel he's done a great job writing and recording everything himself so far, but I'd quite like him to get a recognised producer in for the next record, just to provide a different angle.

I find myself being more impressed by the longer songs (track 1,3,5 and 8) more than the shorter ones. They are all super catchy tho, and a great mix of thrash, heavy, speed and black.
