The beginning of this album is very far removed from what they were doing on the debut; I wondered if it was representative of a complete departure by the band, but some of the debut's extremity appears later. Still, this is a bit of an inconsistent and scattered album; the second half of Trek is quite engaging, but both the synthier stuff like the opening song and the more frenetic extreme parts remain unengaging

This was a complete surprise. I seem to be in the minority in that I found the debut charming in it's unabashed attempt at bizarre brutality. This on the other hand seems like half-measure of connecting their old style to something more...digestible? Either way, for anyone starting with this release I highly recommend checking out the debut and don't let the ratings dissuade you it sounds like something up your alley.

I'm not hearing any brutal death here, and only a minor hint of industrial for that matter, for me it sounds closer to a metalcore or alternative metal album and not a very interesting one at that. Pretty bland songwriting, lack of interesting melodies, and the vocals aren't doing much for me either, so, not working for me this release unfortunately
