I’m not sure I’d call JFAC “legends,” but I’m definitely curious about this one. It’s been 10 years since their last one and it was pretty decent at that if memory serves, so they may well be looking to return to the throne heavy with this one now

Creating a genre that had stranglehold on metal for a decade definitely grants JFAC legendary status.

I totally did not expect this, I thought I was going to hear just another run-of-the-mill tech death release with perhaps a few elements of deathcore thrown in, but instead this is great. The instrumentation is actually quite remarkable, it's relentless but equally melodic as it is technical, and the production is top quality.

This falls in the side of tech death I would label "soulless". It is good technically, has some good moments, but it doesn't take me anywhere, it doesn't make my mind wander. And it sounds a bit same-y after a few tracks..
The production could be better as well, I get they wanted to have a very present bass, but it tends to spill over the rest at times, making the low mids too crowded for my tastes. I think that bass sound should have been sharper to bring it that high in the mix.
Overall an ok album I will probably not come back to.

Alright this is how it feels to bit run over.. Damn this was a surprise. I heard this band many years ago, and really didn't like it. But this album really won me over. Love the tech death inspiration and all the melodies. The production is top notch, and the musicians are delivering the A-game. What a great, great release!

Finally got around to this one, they’re back in fine form. The Sun Gave Me Ashes is so fucking good, and the rest of the album is pretty great too.

Never really dabbled with JFAC in their first iteration, only heard one or two songs and then gave Sun Eater a spin or two. Saw this getting a lot of hype and I can see why; it's a really solid prog/tech-death album that twists and turns in satisfying ways.

Pretty solid return, it’s technical for sure but also surprisingly groovy at points so that keeps it from feeling overly wanky and mechanical

Very surprised how well put together this album is. With how similar it is to Sun Eater that 10 year gap might has well been 2 years.

Hands down the best album in their discography. The production really stands out, with a strong emphasis on the bass lines (which are a freakin clinic in themselves. Someone get us the solo'd bass stems.) A mind-blowing record in the death metal category for 2024.

Bumping to 8. Quite impressed with this considering they were on a nearly decade - long hiatus. And yeah, dunno if I’d say this is their best release overall, but the bass here especially is indeed better than it’s ever been. Fucking love those fat, curly lines under the rest of the guitar madness

My first time listening to Job For A Cowboy. This is pretty awesome! I like especially the bass and the mystical sci-fi lyrics

Looks great on paper but I don't think it works. I keep asking myself weather I'm liking what I'm hearing. There's a lot going on but it's not there to aid the message but just to add needless complexity. And despite all of that, every song sounds just like the last one.
