With a whole new lineup, i'm having my doubts about the album :/
artwork seems okay to me, makes me feel the album will be spooky and dark.
Have you heard the 4 songs of this album that they played live? If the overall quality of the album is comparable/equal to those songs, I'm very confident it'll be a great album.

heard them just now, ahh, they're awesome. been a long time since Metal made me feel emotional, the new album will surely tip the scale. Loved the guitarwork in all four songs. Really looking forward to this now.

yes most of the line-up is new. But the two main composers are still part of the band

Haha, I think so too. I like the sound a lot more than the sound of the songs on Veronica Decides To Die, probably because they're heavier and slower. That album was very good (especially I Long and Descending), but I have to say it's lacking compared to their debut, which is a masterpiece in my opinion (it's so good I even put it in my Top 20 Albums Of All Time, have a look at it if you're curious). Nice album collection by the way, as it's very similar to mine.

Not bad, though I believe other songs could be fairly better.

So you downloaded it?
Anyway, good to hear it's a great album. I'm very curious myself, but I'm going to buy it and only then listen to it.

Awesome release! not as good as Veronika, but still amazing. The only thing that bothers me is two ballads. Not because it's bad, more opposit, but because it would be nice to hear more metalish side of Saturnus. Nevertheless can't stop to listen to this album!

Great album... love the riffs and solos.
agree with the ballad thing though. they got a bit monotonous, should've had a solo or 2...

Great stuff. Saturnus, even though very, very cheesy, make an excellent use of what very few doom bands utilize - long, emotional guitar solos. What seems to be a great means to convey sadness and despair is what lots of doom bands almost completely ignore. The only sensible explanation seems to be that most of guitarists are completely clueless when it comes to playing a guitar solo

Yup, do try it. great compositions, riffs, solos and atmosphere throughout.
Though the rating will fall once the fans of other albums in the top 20 of the year come along

I don't care if I sound like the biggest fanboy on the face of earth, Saturn In Ascension is my album of the year.

Listening to Wind Torn ( my first listen to the new album), and I realise I am really saturated by Saturnus' use of spoken verse passages. It's getting a bit tedious, something I felt since the Martyr album. Especially because he has a very boring, flat voice in these passages. How about trying to...sing a bit? Is this as predominant on the entire album?

I think those spoken parts are great personally. Thomas has a great voice, he can whisper softly, do nice clean vocals, good shouts and growls... he can pretty much do anything with his voice. If you only like their debut (which happens to be my favourite too), Saturnus might not be your type of band. Though if you only dislike the spoken parts, then that's probably not the case.
