Since I discovered Vanden Plas in 1999, all their albums sound incredible to me. But, even if I was awaiting this one for a long time, I must admit that it's their best so far. All you need is in this release: musical balance, amazing guitar solos, splendid keyboards, powerful drums, perfect bass parts and finally fine vocals. You can add perfect artwork once again, the fact the 'Beyond Daylight' is a suite of hits, all making sense in listening to the last one , and finally a Kansas cover that rocks. Read more ›› |

I can't put my finger on it but this one doesn't get my blood going as most other Vanden Plas albums. It's a good album but there's just something about the songwriting that leave something to be desired. The 10-minute title track and "Scarlet Flower Fields" is fantastic songs, great melodies in those as for the rest they are either "only" good or average. EDIT: Yeah I have changed my mind completely about this album. It's brilliant all the way through!

I wonder how many great albums we missed out on because we didn't give them enough spins to really let them sink in...
