In any mythology, when two Gods gather it always ends in a terrible battle . In the world of power metal, it ends in a tremendous piece of music. Old friends Jon Schaffer and Hansi Kursch finally worked together in 1999 and released their first side-project's opus entitled Demons & Wizards . Apart from Hansi Kursch on vocals, Jon Schaffer on guitars and bass guitar, the lineup consisted of Mark Prator on drums and Jim Morris on lead guitar.

I remember this album really impressing me back in the days when I was still a young metalhead. The fruit of collaboration of two great musicians whom I respected (and still respect) quickly became one of my favourite power metal albums. Listening to this album again now... I found myself experiencing the same emotions. I don't listen to a lot of power metal nowadays 'cause it bored me but I still like Blind Guardian, I still like Iced Earth and, for sure, I like this album. I can't even name some of the more outstanding songs 'cause all of them are great for me.

I did for a long time, too...I think what changed my mind was the fact that they only had the 2

Listened to this again recently, and haven't listened to anything else since. Absolutely love this album, probably the strongest power metal album I've ever heard.

Such a good album filled with great songs. Gallows Pole, Winter Of Souls, The Whistler, My Last Sunrise, Fiddler On The Green, Poor Man's Crusade, Heaven Denies, ... I love all of them. The overall atmosphere is amazing.

One of my favourite heavy metal records, it's actually on par with my favourite Iced Earth album (which is The Dark Saga).

IMHO a solid 10, very few albums come so close to perfection and blissfulness as this one does - beatiful and emotional songs, exceptional production, lyrics, guitar and vocals.
19 years since it's release and i like it just as much, if not even more.

I'm probably one of the few who doesn't see the greatness in this record at all. I actually find it overall a bit boring. Blood on My hands is the only song that strikes me as great. Others like Heaven Denies, Winter of Souls and Tear Down the Wall are also nice but I rarely listen to this one and it hasn't grown on me during the years.
