This is in my opinion where the band started to sound uninspired both musically and conceptually. It still tries hard to deliver the goods, but this album simply left me wanting so much more.

I have to agree whit my mate rezza about this one, its falling, lame and weak album, I did not enjoy it so much.

Definitely not Dio's best album... but Lock Up The Wolves (title track) is one hell of an underrated gem on Dio's crown! That super dark main riff mixes with his soaring vocals makes me think of his other heavy masterpieces like Sign of the Southern Cross!

Most of it falls in to the category of just ok traditional heavy metal, and then there is some occasional great moments. Generally said: it's listenable and enjoyable music, yet I don't see many listens for a whole lot of the songs.

I just can't understand these negative evaluations... This is a really excellent album. The songs are impeccably composed, and the sound is just killer.

Better than I remembered. Most songs here are actually pretty decent. It's a different Dio, the perfect middle road between the melodic Dream Evil and the heavy Strange Highways. Probably could have cut out Evil On Queen Street and Twisted to get the album tighter. I hadn't heard this album in probably 14-15 years and I remembered it was kind of dull all the way so... pleasantly surprised

His isn't Holy Diver, Dream Evil or The Last In Line

But I enjoy it.
