IQ is a band that has been in the Prog scene for decades now, the band has a loyal fanbase, and this is their eight full length album, and first one in four years. For those that are not familiar with this band, they play Progressive Rock in the vein of Marillion, Arena and Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), anyway, this new release follows the style of the band: flawless compositions, creative songwriting and lengthy songs. Listening to this again today for about the 100th time. Still soooo good. One of the few bands who have literally zero weak spots IMO. Nicholls' vocals might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I love them. Even the lyrics are interesting and intriguing. I love every song here, but "Born Brilliant" speaks to me the most: "I'm selfish and insensitive I'm rotten to the core Pretentious and derivative You've seen it all before" Pure self-deprecating poetic irony.

A fantastic modern Prog Rock album (Opeth, take notes!). 8.8/10 for me - 'Harvest Of Souls' is the standout track IMO, 'Red Dust Shadow' is also great.

The first IQ album I bought. I was not big into prog at that time and got shelved pretty fast. It's now 10 or so years later that I go back to it and it's a strong one. It's on the same level as the three albums before it and I think all those albums are unique in their own way. Harvest of Souls have some really extraordinary prog sections and both Sacred Ground and You Never Will have a lot of tasteful hooks. Doesn't anyone else think Nicholls and John Arch sound very similar? Especially on this album but I also noticed the similarity on The Seventh House.
