Eight of Swords if a fantastic song. The rest of the CD really doesn't hold a candle to it though. Not bad, but just not exactly mind blowing. I can see the potential here for a slayer for an album but this one just isn't it.

Eight of swords (the album´s higlight) is a shitty song with silly lyrics. This band really sucks.

The vocals are absolutely horrendous at worst (the screams/growls) and mediocre at best (the clean vocals), which is a shame because the guitar work is amazing, "Sleep and Death" is the best example of this. A bunch of horrible vocals with superb guitar riffs underneath gone to waste.

Jon Schaffer comes to mind a lot, but this is different. With the vocals, a bad female imitation of Dani Filth comes to mind. This band definitely has potential, but with this kind of shitty vocals they will not get too far.

I think people are a little bit prejudiced when it comes to this band. While I do agree that Jill has a rather shady past and that her performance on this album is a little bit questionable, I cannot deny the fact that her vocals are unique in her own way and they do attract attention. No wonder she deserves the nickname "The Banshee" and her live performances are just stunning. When she hits high notes with her thin voice she seems like a female version of Rob Halford singing songs from the Painkiller album.

The album is great, without a doubt, the instrumental part is amazing. The vocal part might still need some vision, so to say, but it is good and it represents the trait that distinguishes Huntress from other acts. Even metalheads are prejudiced, so I don't see why a Playboy model could not succeed as a rock/metal artist. One should not forget that she is an opera trained singer as well.

What else can I say, I remember how hard it was for me to listen back in my youth to black metal or death metal while for years I was stuck on other genres such as power, thrash, doom, gothic or heavy metal, the vocals being one of the main obstacles. It takes a couple of listens though. Looking back, I think I've seen female vocalists doing a lot worse than Jill Janus, both on studio and live or at least in one of them.

Well, that album, is amazing, i love Jill's vocals. The Eight Of Swords, Aradia, Spell Eater and Snowitch are the best songs from this album. To me it sounds perfect. That's why am giving a ten

The more I listen to Huntress, the more I'm convinced they're sort of a one-trick pony-that is, thrashy heavy metal supported by Janus' unforgettable vocal delivery. That said, I think the band's debut is the best representation of what they do well, and "Spell Eater" is full of absolute bangers, namely the title track, 'Senicide' and 'Eight of Swords'. The rest of the album is slightly weaker compared to these songs in my opinion, but it's still very solid material.
