I have no idea how they can top their first two releases. A letdown is inevitable...someone talk me off the ledge!

Really interesting album. I haven't quite made my mind up about it, but I definitely like some of their explorations on this record.

EDIT: The sound of the album is absolutely phenomenal. The only main issue I can see would be the lack of variety of two tracks in the middle, but there are some really phenomenal tracks on here as well. A Heartbeat Away and The Colossus that Bestrode the World are highlights.

Yep. Knew it. I've listened to this three times thru now and nothing stands out. It's not a bad album, in fact it's a good prog album, just not as good as their first two.

For me, this album was better than Touchstones, but not even close to the level of Beautiful and Monstrous. I love how melodious it is, and just how sturdy and catchy the songs are. It's a shame they weren't nominated for the MS Awards in prog, since this album easily knocks off about a third of the list.

B&M is one of my favorite albums ever. I like Touchstones a lot too. This album is a bit of a step down from them. Not a huge step because the production is flawless and Arno's voice is as amazing as ever but their just isn't many memorable songs.

After the subtle brilliance of Touchstones that revealed itself over several listens, this one did feel like a bit of a drop to begin with. I don't know, listening to it yesterday, there were times when, whether due to production or instrumental arrangmenet, it felt like it was lacking some of the dynamic range and lush feel of the previous album, particularly in heavy sections, and it generally doesn't have quite the song strength of its predecessor. However, it's still got a lot of very likeable stuff on it, particularly in the second half, so like this year's album, it's not quite lviing up to the expectations my first taste of Subsignal set, but they're still very likeable albums on their own terms.
