When "For Broken Words", Construct's opener, was first previewed, reactions were mixed, to say the least - and that's only natural given the weird, mid-tempo nature of this song. Then we got a classical Dark Tranquillity song ("The Science Of Noise", a future live anthem to be sure), and a mellow song with clean vocals ("Uniformity"). Varied album? Indeed! So, how's the rest? Well, screaming 'masterpîece' is obviously a case of blind fanboyism, but talking about 'pure crap' is totally a prejudiced, off-the-mark vision; as usual (and especially with an album like this one) the answer lies in the silence in between (ah ah).

This is probably their moodiest and darkest release to date, and I think it was quite a unique turning point for DT at the time. I kinda remember parts bringing me back to projector when I first heard it, but not being overly impressed with this direction they took, and thought Atoma was a vastly superior album. Looking back now I'd say this is a decent album, despite it's inconsistency.

It is a good album, performed well, with decent production etc. But it fails to grab me, and listening to the album makes me bored. However in small doses with the correct mood, the individual songs are enjoyable. None Becoming and What Only You Know are my favorite tracks here, they have a cool dark atmosphere. As is often the case l I don't understand what Stanne is talking about in his cryptic lyrics . Not sure if I am being stupid or the dude really writes in an obscure way.

Just like most of everyone else, I didn't really understand this album when it came out, because of how different it was to their previous efforts. But now, and for a few years already, it turned out to be the one I listen to the most, from start to finish. It's a go-to album for me. It just stayed with me, I don't know why. Like your best friend you spend your time the most with. There's something to it, some kind of sincerity and vulnerability, that I can't find in other albums. Honest introspection, that is shown not just in the lyrics but in the music too. On top of the usual quality, which is and always has been the highest. It's a 10 from me, because I wouldn't change anything in it. It is perfect.
