What's that, you want a description? Ok. Have an Andromedan alien come to Earth, learn the language of some obscure African tribe, and then play synthesizers while singing over them in that language. Then play the recording backwards, and that's something along the lines of what you get with Ritual. Surachai is definitely not one to do something more than once, and this new album is a radical, yet curious departure from his previous releases that were more grounded in metal.

This band certainly doesn't like to do the same album twice.

I really dig the artwork... Is it a photo or a computer-thing or what? D:

One of those times you just know I have no clue about names for artwork techniques... And that english is definitely not my first language (It's not even second). xD

I'll be honest I don't know either I'd say it's a composite of a few different photos as the brick wall and the clock don't look like they were there in the original photo. It then got spruced up to make the colours all weird.

Well the full thing is streaming on bandcamp now. Not really my style of electronic, but it certainly has some nice parts to it. I prefer the previous album, but given how interesting this one is I'll probably be revisiting it sometime in the future

Yeah the individual tracks are pleasant mini-electronic experiments but I find the album lacking as a cohesive whole. Perhaps there's some leitmotifs I'm not picking up on but I would have preferred more clear progression; maybe fewer songs with more build-ups or even make it one single track with a specific journey. Definitely prefer what Necro Deathmort did with 'Martian Cartography'. May give that another play through now.

Try the parenthesised numbers, maybe it'll make better sense

The artwork is by Emilie Elizabeth. She's a photographer. She worked with John Crawford, another photographer, for this. This is a photo-compositing, that was airbrushed to look like a victorian-era kind of painting.

I think this is lowest rating for a staff picked album yet. Given that I listen to all kindsa crazy shit, should I be checking this one out?

I didn't find it especially weird or crazy. Perhaps mildly experimental. Depends on how much you like your electronic music I guess, but it's nothing Venetian Snares or a dozen other bands on the Planet Mu label hasn't already done better. I can't imagine I'll ever revisit it after the one play (suppose I might as well lower this to a 6 then). I personally think this is way better.
