Silence is always my initial reaction to an IQ album.

The rhythm remains the same, as members change. IQ has always been one of those bands that fell into the medium of obscurity for me, strictly because they always played on the fringe of prog worship and never feigned actual progression. That was, until The Road of Bones.

Was a 9 at the time, (I'd say a 9.5) but I've changed the score as long as I kept listening to it and finding the imperfections.

I have to listen to this one again. I'm pretty sure I thought it was a mid 8 when it came out.

Not necessarily one of their absolute best albums, it's fine but too streamlined and has somewhat weaker sounding production than Ever or Dark Matter for example. I just don't understand why they decided to release the one disc version of this massive double album at all. Maybe they thought their fans are tight on money and only want half of the goods or something. If I remember correctly, the double disc version was nearly double the price of a normal one disc release.

This is the highest-rated IQ album on Progarchives.com (from 1,300 more voters), so I'm curious to see why it's their fifth lowest rated on here

That's an easy answer, progheads and metalheads think differently, no offense.

Fall and Rise is stunningly beautiful, one of the best songs by IQ. But after three listens the bonus disc doesn't do much for me. The first disc however is pretty great throughout, even if there are parts that are a bit boring.
