Additional info
Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Jeff Arwadi.
Artwork by Levi Sianturi.
Kekal has no official members as in 2014. All musical contributions to this album are kept anonymous.

"Metropolis Noir", "Crossroads" and "The Unwritten" feature VOCALOID? character of Megurine Luka
"Heyday (Unlike Today)" features audio sample from the documentary feature film "The Act of Killing" by Joshua Oppenheimer

If you've heard Kekal before you understand that they are a weird Indonesian experimental band.
The production value on this is horribly raw and flat, but in a strangely endearing way. A few songs feature VOCALOID, which I assume from a google search is some sort of pillow waifu thing. There is also a prominent barf outro. From their bandcamp: "All musical contributions to this album are kept anonymous. Kekal has no official band members as of 2015." I don't understand, but I'll accept it. Recommended for fans of Unexpect (lots of chaotic electro abrasions mixed in), Sigh (esp. Imaginary Sonicscape), Mr. Bungle, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Ephel Duath, and Ved Buens Ende.
Highly recommended if you like Pestilence - Spheres or the raw vocoder days of Cynic.

I know I'm not being objective, but I think this is the most mature Kekal album so far. I'm enjoying it so much, I'm thinking of writing a review, when I have some free time.
Favourite tracks: Token Discontentment, Neutrality, Metropolis Noir, Crossroads, Primal, The Unwritten.

The production is all over the place on this one, unique to say the least.

Thanks a lot for the staff pick, dude! I wouldn't have discovered this band otherwise. Some really strange but good stuff. I agree the production is a bit messed up but like you said, it's nice one you get used to it. As if it enhances all the elements. Also, those "pillow waifu things" (I actually laughed IRL when I read that) are... are actually pretty cool and well used. Who woulda thunk, eh?

No problem, I definitely recommend The Habit of Fire if you have not heard it yet.

The material had such potential, but I felt it came across as...awkward most of the time.

Hey, The Habit of Fire is very good example of Avant-garde Metal. But compared to Multilateral, 1000 Thoughts of Violence is exceptional.

I like 1000, but prefer The Habit of Fire when recommending Kekal to others. I'm assuming you didn't like this one? This album definitely has flaws, mostly production-based, but for a band with no members, the ideas put out are incredible. Always refreshing to spotlight those trying new things, even if they don't all turn out perfect.
