If anyone wants to listen to an album with catchy melodies and aggressive sound, Amon Amarth's "Once Sent From The Golden Hall" would be a very appropriate choice. Released in the year 1998, this is a perfect example of an album which represents the fusion of melody, aggression and speed ("speed" here refers to the fast guitars).

Amon amarth have released a lot of brilliant albums, but this is where it all started. Hegg's vocals aren't the best at this point, but they do fit in with the rumbling bass-lines and heavy riffs throughout. A brilliant start to a wonderfully successful career.

An ambitious album that somehow seeks to take instant charge of its listener and does not stop until the album is over. The longer songs here are my highlights, the anthemic 'Amon Amarth' a perfect way of introducing the band, whereas 'Victorious March' could stand head to head with any other Amon Amarth song to this day. Underrated isn't the word.

Listened to it again after a year. It sounds so great after all this time Perhaps I should check the following two albums aswell. They sounded bad a year ago.

My favourite AA album, along with the quite different sounding With Oden On Our Side. Raw, melodic, and powerful, a special sound that got phased out after the first few albums. Dragon's Flight Across the Waves, Friends of the Suncross, and Ride for Vengeance are my personal highlights.

One of the better Amon Amarth albums, has some bite to it which they would lose later on, but its still pretty standard fare, enjoyable for what it is though.

Definitely one of their better albums....probably not topped until Versus the World.
On a side note, someone look at that cover art and tell me that that isn't a GIANT PENIS on the front. No frickin' way is that a coincidence...

This could have easily been their best if not for the production, I mean here they sounded like a blackened Bolt Thrower, but unfortunately the production let them down imho.

"Victorius March" still remains one of my favorite AA songs to this day, although I admit the bonus version "Siegreicher Marsch" on Verses The World is even better

Somehow didn't bother to listen to this until recently, because I was under the impression that it wasn't gonna be worthwhile compared to their stronger albums, but I was mistaken, this easily is as good as their best efforts. "Victorious March" and "Amon Amarth" are incredible tracks, some of the best they've ever done tbh. The almost non stop tremolo riffiing, the more raw and aggressive vocals, the slightly rougher production (I think it's the 2009 version on Spotify), I don't know man, this album just fuicking slaps.

I have entered the Amon Amarth - universe with "With Oden On Our Side", "Twilight Of The Thunder God" and "Versus The World". After this, I bought "Once Sent From The Golden Hall" and I loved it. If the previously mentioned albums are the main trilogy (for me), then "Sent" is the "Rouge One"-like phenomenal prequel.

I am not a huge fan of where the band is musically these days but those first few albums will always have a spot in my rotation. This album specifically is my favorite. The riffs/solos and atmosphere on this album is something they never really did again (also having Martin Lopez on drums is an added bonus). I just really love the feel of this record.
