I'm hoping for this to be instrumental only.

Well I hope not, for me there is nothing more boring than instrumentals, unless short and one per album max ...

Best album since Spirit came out, not that it was that hard to beat the others, but it's good they still take this seriously

Defined as "Celtic folk metal, Gothenburg metal" is too much. There is literally zero metal on this album. Pure folk music with some rock elements here and there, but not even close to anything metal.

That definition is correct for the band. However, their "Evocation" albums are purely acoustic folk releases.

The "Evocations" are the only albums that really did it for me for this band. However, this is a small step down from "The Arcane Dominion" as it lacks the darkness, such as track like "Nata" and "Desumíis Luge", and the short instrumentals aren't very different from each other.

This has an original sound and it is a nice piece of music. I think it deserves some palms.

I think you ain't aware of "Evocation" series at all. Pretty much what Dark Forever said. Nonetheless, it's a great release.

Does anyone else think Antvmnos sounds a bit like Scarborough Fair?

Unexpectedly good. They reused some old melodies and it helped a lot but some of the new tracks (of course not the two video clips) were good like "Taranis".

If the songwriting is good, I couldn't care less for vocals.
On topic, the new vocalist sounds great, don't miss anything there. The album sounds like a tribute to European folk music and also like a tribute to their previous albums. So not really that interesting but still good songs that are nice to listen to.

I was pleasantly surprised. The first Evocation is my least favorite Eluveitie album, and I had low expectations for this one; they were clearly exceeded. I really like this one.
Nantosvelta, Grannos, Aventia and Antvmnus are very pleasant tunes. The whole album is enjoyable.

I have always considered Evocation 1 to be the last good thing this band did and now I think Evocation 2 is. It really is basically just a soft reboot of their early albums because of all the reused melodies and structures, but that's not such a bad thing this time because at least they are used in a different way. This album is mostly Evocation 1 again, but at least the new stuff that is in there is good and thank God it isn't the 6th damn time they released Spirit.
This album flows very well just like the other Evocation album, it's best to listen through it in one sitting. The new members all gave great performances, especially Fabienne Erni. This really did bring back fond memories and feelings, which is what Evocation means to do. However, Christian Glanzmann clearly ran out of ideas to offer ages ago and that wasn't a surprise on this album, or the previous one, or the previous one. This wasn't as good as Slania, or Spirit, or even Evocation 1, but it is good. In fact I'm going to consider this to be the end of this band. I'm not going to check out anything after this because I listened to their new metal single and yet again there is a complete lack of innovation with what they are doing and I've heard enough iterations of their single metal album structure. I don't expect this line-up to last long anyway because it seems that Christian Glanzmann is pretty hard to work with. Maybe I'm wrong, and I hope this band the best, but I'm not interested where they go from here. This album, for me, is the final fond farewell.

There's few harsh vocals and it's their less "metal" album. They put their new female vocalist too much in front for me but I can see there they did put work in it. Here's my problem : in their previous albums I did like some calmer or instrumentals songs, Memento is even my favourite from them, but this one lacks the balance I liked from Eluveitie meaning Folk/Metal/Harsh vocals vs female vocals with an equal impact. Evocation II is celtic album, and I'm not the good public for that. I'm not loosing hope yet but I'm not loosing my sleep for the next album.
My favourite is obviously Catvrix. Other than that Lvgvs and Artio are good if you're looking for folk music.

It stands inferior to Evocation 1. Nonetheless, with a new single dropping, I find Eluveitie to be on the edge and not too far to be seen before they stick to instrumental albums only.

You should know the drill, then. They going to pick up songs from Slania, Spirit, Helvetios, Ategnatos( Ambiramus played to the death) and a smattering from Origins and The Evocation.

Well it's the first time seeing them live for me, and I've tried not to spoil myself the fun and haven't checked any set-lists. But I have my guesses. Evocation 1 now finally listened fully. I think it has it's ups and downs. Probably not as strong for me as Evocation 2 was.
