Biography
The San Francisco Bay area Metal scene has a long and storied history of spawning some powerful and innovative acts: Metallica, Death Angel, Exodus, Testament and more recently Leviathan & High On Fire. With the release of the grinding single “HellFoot” on Feb. 12th, the Bay Area natives of Mudface are ready to carry on that tradition. Their 2nd National album release “The Bane Of Existence”, produced by Sahaj Ticotin (RA) & Bob Marlette (Atreyu, Coal Chamber, Rob Zombie, Seether) will be released on March 18th, 2016.
Formed in 2005 by Dinsmore and Ted Aguilar (Death Angel), Mudface has released 2 Self-titled EP'S, and one full length album titled "ANTI" that was produced by Tim Narducci (Systematic, Spiral Arms). “ANTI” received Metal Radio airplay all over the world. The current lineup of Mudface came together as a band over time while crossing paths in the Bay Area Metal scene. Magnetized by their shared musical influences of icons like Megadeth, Death Angel, Testament, Nine Inch Nails and Iron Maiden, among others - One by one, they were all drawn into the Mudface universe. Lead vocalist Chris Dinsmore is the only original and founding member. Keyboardist Brett Crane came on board in 2009; Rob Kolowitz and son Grant are one of the only Father/Son teams in Metal and joined the band in late 2012. Bassist Jim Pegram joined during the writing of “The Bane of Existence” in early 2015. Drummer Tim Davis joined in late 2015 after the album was recorded, and the band’s current lineup was solidified.
The band puts their core philosophy succinctly: “We want to prove that the Metal genre is NOT dead. Our music has groove and hooks, while remaining true to our roots. Our goal is to take our music beyond the Bay Area to the U.S. and the rest of the world, with a powerful and dynamic live show – No lip-synching allowed!”
The band has earned a reputation as intense and maniacal live performers in the Bay area and throughout the Western Half of the U.S. playing with Exodus, Death Angel, High On Fire and Otep, among others. The band has played on big stages: In 2013, Mudface won the “Headbang To The Highway” Competition sponsored by Sumerian Records and played the Mayhem Festival @the Shoreline Amphitheatre with Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Amon Amarth, Mastodon, and Machine Head. The band has also performed on the U.S.S. Hornet and the legendary Queen Mary.
Mudface’s first single release “HellFoot” from “The Bane Of Existence” is a scathing indictment of Humanity repeatedly making the wrong choices and heading down a dangerous path. A video for the song Premiered on February 12th, 2016 @ Revolver.com.
