Amethyst - Biography
This band's profile is 'invisible', meaning that it's much less prominent on the site - either because it's incomplete, or maybe doesn't entirely fit MS format.
Biography
Amethyst are the product of a collaboration between Songwriter/Guitarist Georgie Larin and Singer/Songwriter Liz Galea.
Amethyst consists of three members only and only use renowned bass players from the metal scene. Evan Harris (ex Taramis and session) played bass on the album which we hope to use again on the next one.
Liz & George are both influenced by the 70's thru to 2001 metal scene, together they have produced a wide range of musical styles, within the heavy metal field, which will cater for a wide range of audience. Nestor was heavily influenced by (Jon Bonham) Led Zepplin to which he gives the band the strong backbeat it needs.
Introducing their debut album "FLAMES TO ETERNITY" this album displays their songwriting and creative abilities.
Ranging from power metal to slow heavy grooves, power ballads, blues and medieval. The album takes the listener through a maze of styles whilst maintaining their heavy metal roots.
The album was self-financed by the 3 members which took a lot of hard slog to get it to where it is, unfortunately Australia doesn't have the producers/engineers that can create a masterpiece. But on a budget it was damn good regardless.
Amethyst with their album release have the high energy power to which the band delivers in their live performances and are ready to establish themselves a place in the world of Heavy Metal.
Currently the band is writing for the new album and then back in the studio to begin recording in the next couple of months. The musical direction has changed slightly to a more heavier, more grooves and riffy guitars and the production should definitely be a lot better than the last. Our debut album was their learning curve and thru their understanding and knowledge that they have now, they should be able to take the next album further.
Once pre-production is complete - unmixed songs will be posted to the webpage for you to sample.
During this time Amethyst will continue to do shows around the country so they can raise enough cash to help fund the next album.
We hope that Year 2002 will be the year for Amethyst.
