Pâenil Era is a post-black metal / atmospheric black metal project from Timisoara, Romania. The name represents an anagram of the Romanian words ‘Pâlnie Rea’, which translates to ‘Bad Funnel’. Symbolizing a broken or partly functional filter that takes in a flow of subconscious dark thoughts, it represents an attempt to connect with the subconscious and give a voice to the dark side of the psyche.

The band was formed in 2012 under the name Signatura Rerum. The name was inspired from one of Jacob Boehme's books. It means "The signature of all things". The band takes just the title of the book: a concept, in which every object from the real world has a hidden meaning and that all these signatures are interconnected. Lyrically, the band wrote about a self-created fantasy world, until the release of Deviere in 2023, when the band changed the name of the project to Pâenil Era, due to conceptual reasons.

The band has opened for acts like Arkona, Grave Desecrator, Sado Sathanas, Syn Ze Sase Tri and more.
