Biography

Pictures of Pain is a melodic metal band from the west coast of Norway. The band has a great spectre in their musicstyle, from slow to hard and aggressive sound. The vocals switch a lot between clean, screaming and growling parts.

The band was formed by Frode Gundersen (drums) and Hans Helge Iversen (vocals) back in 2004. Later on, Roy Ostrem (bass), Rune Fredriksen (guitar, also active in Thundra) and Arne Marton Tangjerd (guitar, also active in Evig Natt) completed the band.

18-20 November 2005, Pictures of Pain recorded their first demo "Pictures of Pain" at Black Dimension Studio. The recording and mixing was taken care of by Stein R. Sund (Ex Einherjer, Throne of Katarsis; now active in Thundra & Evig Natt). The band entered the same studio autumn 2006 to record the band's second demo "From the Ashes". One of the songs from this demo was selected to be included on Karmoygeddon Matalfestival's compilation-cd, "Metal from Haugaland", released Nov 2006.

The band has received a lot of positive feedback so far, including both live-shows and recordings.

March 2007, the band made it to the "Wacken Metal Battle - Final", which took part in Trondheim.

Pictures of Pain has done several gigs the last years and has played together with bands like Volbeat, Kamelot, Doro, Scar Symmetry, Keep of Kallessin, Ensiferum, Leaves Eyes etc.
The band entered Black Dimension Studio studio again 2008/2009, to record their debut, fullength - cd.

After mixing, the cd was sent further to the legendary King Diamond (ex Death) guitarist Andy LaRocque for Mastering. He has produced bands such as In Flames, King Diamond, Hammerfall, Novembre, Evergrey and Falconer to name just a few.

August 2010 Pictures of Pain signed a record deal with Pitch Black Records. The debut cd "The Reckoning" was released World Wide 26th of November 2010. The band have received a lot of positive feedbacks and reviews for their debut album, which can be read at the "reviews" link.
