Dethklok received the "Metal Hammer Ultimate Award Of The Viking Bloody Dawn Unicorn Killer" award during the 2009 Revolver Golden God Awards. A clip of the band's acceptance speech was played after they were announced as the recipients. They were presented the award by Chuck Billy, best known for his work as the vocalist for the thrash metal band Testament.

At the 2010 Golden God Awards, creator Brendon Small performed with Brian Posehn's All Star Band, and he introduced Fear Factory which features Dethklok drummer Gene Hoglan.
