American thrashers Overkill have entered the studio to begin tracking their new studio album due out sometime next year. The new material will be tracked at Gear Recording and mixed by Greg Reely, who also mixed the band's previous effort The Electric Age. Now all you have to do is wait and hope for the best!

Since the beginning of this week, melodic death metallers Insomnium have been sharing photos from the studio and released a short note saying that "some Insomnium members are in a secret location recording something which might be released pretty soon." The band is being secretive about it, so it is unclear whether they are recording their new album or have some other release planned but at least we know that the band has been working on a new album, writing new lyrics and rehearsing new songs.

The band is once again working with producer Steve Evetts on this yet untitled new full-length at his studio, The Omen Room, in Garden Grove, California. Italy's grindcore veterans Cripple Bastards have entered the studio to record their Relapse Records full-length debut and first new album in over three years. They have returned, once again, to Studio Fredman in Gotherburg Sweden to work with producer Fredrik Nordström (Arch Enemy, At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity). The album is set for an early 2014 release so there is still some waiting to do but at least now fans have something to look forward to next year.

Good news arrive from the Swedish metallers Nightingale. After a long absence since the release of White Darkness back in 2007, the band is again in the studio as the recordings of their new album started this week. This will be the band's first album in almost seven years but according to them, it will be worth the wait. So far, the drum sessions with Tom Björn for the upcoming Nightingale album are underway with five tracks done.

Ashes Of Ares, the new band featuring Matt Barlow (ex-Iced Earth), Van Williams (ex-Nevermore) and Freddie Vidales (ex-Iced Earth), have completed work on their debut album to be released later this summer via Nuclear Blast Records.
