Hellfest - Refuse To Drop Down From Lineup; French Government Yanks Funding

According to HuffPo France, after the controversial video was posted a few weeks ago showing Phil Anselmo giving the Nazi salute and shouting "white power", something he has apologized for multiple times, French senator and President of the General Council of the Vendée, Bruno Retailleau asked the promoters of French festival Hellfest to drop Down from its annual summer fest for promoting hatred. Dutch festival FortaRock canceled Down's appearance "to make clear that there is no room for racism or fascism at FortaRock."

Down - Dropped From FortaRock‎, Anselmo Apologizes Again (Update)

UPDATE: After the Dutch festival FortaRock cancelled Down's performance due to Phil Anselmo's "white power" gesture and shouting, now their February 8th show in New Orleans, the band's hometown, has been cancelled as well. Phil apologized again and publicly apologized to his Down bandmates and now guitarist Pepper Keenan has responded.

Downfall Of Gaia - Part Ways With Guitarist Peter Wolff

Downfall Of Gaia have parted ways with one of their founding members: guitarist/vocalist Peter Wolff. He was there at the genesis of the German band but now departs. His last show with the band will be in April 2016 and they are looking for a new guitarist.

Download Festival 2016 - Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath And Rammstein Headlining

UK's Download Festival 2016 brought the big guns and announced their three big headliners for 2016. The triple-threat bill includes the headliners for next year's Download Festival: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Rammstein. Rammstein will headline the Friday night. Black Sabbath will return to Donington to headline the Saturday night. Their appearance at Download Festival will form part of their worldwide The End tour, as they sign off their 50-year career. Iron Maiden will headline the Sunday night of Download Festival 2016. The British metal gods will headline Castle Donington for the sixth time on June 12th, 2016, and they'll be arriving at the festival site in true Maiden style.

Decapitated - Earache Records Takes Down Band's Digital Albums

It seems like we have another legal battle in our hands, this time involving Polish death metallers Decapitated and their former label Earache Records. While the group is now signed to Nuclear Blast Records, it appears that Earache Records has taken down the band's entire catalogue of music released by the label in retaliation for legal disputes brought forth by the band. Essentially, you can't buy or stream these albums from iTunes or Spotify now.

Hatriot - Steve Souza Stepping Down As Vocalist

Maybe it was predictable after Hatriot's vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza returned to Exodus but he is stepping down as the singer in the band. While initially it was agreed that he would perform in both bands full time, that is not possible anymore. Bassist Cody Souza is taking over vocal duties in Hatriot. Steve "Zetro" Souza is not leaving the band though and will assist in running operations, writing lyrics, and overseeing the band.

After The Burial - Issue Statement On Guitarist's Meltdown

After The Burial have responded to their guitarist's meltdown earlier this week. Justin Lowe posted a lengthy rant on Facebook (which now appears to have been removed) accusing the other members of various bizarre actions and basically leaving the group. However, according to the band, the guitarist is ill and is getting some help right now. He was not in a sound state of mind.

The SLoT - Drummer Steps Down, Replacement Announced

Last week, Russian alternative metallers The SLoT revealed that longtime drummer Kirill "The Dude" Kachanov would be stepping down from the kit after 11 years of service. While they did not go into detail about the reasons for his departure, the band stated that they parted as friends and that they wish The Dude well in his future projects.

Metal United Down Under 2015 - First 38 Bands Announced

Metal United Down Under has dropped the first 38 names for this year's event. The festival falls on Saturday, October 10th, and will take over 18 venues across Australia at the same time. From Hobart to Darwin and Perth to Brisbane, metal will again spread over Australia under the MUDU banner. 19 promoters in 16 cities have joined the MUDU project which tops last year's MUDU when 13 cities in seven states/territories participated. The promoters organized shows with a total of 90 Australian metal bands. This huge event now promises to get even bigger with more cities and the 100 band mark should be reached.

Five Finger Death Punch - Melt Down On Stage, Deny Break Up Rumors

Trouble in paradise? Five Finger Death Punch had a meltdown onstage during the band's performance in Memphis, Tennessee as part of the Beale Street Music Festival. Reportedly, the band cut its performance short after roughly six songs and walking off stage. This led some fans to speculate they were breaking up. However, the Los Angeles metallers have already dismissed these rumors. The band's frontman, Ivan Moody, has suggested that it was all due to technical problems and that the band fired some of their crew.
