Cloven Hoof - Parting Ways With Three Members

UK heavy metallers Cloven Hoof have issued the following update:

"Guitarists Ben Read and Mick Powell and drummer Jon Brown are no longer members of Cloven Hoof. Ben Read and Mick Powell have walked out on the band with only 5 weeks to go before two prestigious gigs in Finland and Germany. They are letting down the fans, the promoters and the good name of Cloven Hoof. It had been noticed for some time that their stage presence was nil and their musicianship was deteriorating by the day.

In order not to let the fans down they were still kept on board until the two dates had been honoured. As their sacking was inevitable, Mr Powell and Mr Read decided to do the maximum amount of damage possible and leave the band high and dry. As a direct consequence of Ben and Mick's action Cloven Hoof have taken the decision to dispense with the services of Jon Brown.

Bassist Lee Payne and stand-in vocalist Russ North are currently in negotiation with the promoters to see if they can still make an appearance at the two festivals out of loyalty to the fans. Cloven Hoof have vowed to return stronger than ever with dedicated band members fit to be in the band."

Firewind - New Album Trailer Online

Greek metal phenomenon Firewind - led by the young guitar sensation Gus G. - has returned with the scathing new effort Days of Defiance, which is easily their defining moment. The much anticipated disc is set for an October 26th North American release (October 25th throughout Europe) and it's a truly ambitious and dynamic opus featuring some of the most brilliant guitar playing the genre has seen in many years. Watch a new trailer featuring a clip of the new World On Fire single below.

This World On Fire single will be available for purchase on digital platforms starting on August 17th, so keep an eye out for that.

Gus G. further states: "Usually when we write an album we let the music come to us and go with the flow. Maybe that's why our albums have variety and you can hear everything from super heavy songs, to speed metal shredding, to rock anthems and ballads. Days of Defiance wasn't much different in the making, but this time we recorded almost all of it in our home studios, which allowed us to be more relaxed. That's why I feel the new album features the best performances by all of us. One of our main goals though was to get a bit more of an 'unpolished' sound and be more raw. I think we achieved it and that gives an extra heaviness to the overall sound. We mixed the album in Helsinki, Finland at Sonic Pump Studios. Nino Laurenne (Thunderstone) and Tapio Pennanen mixed it and they did a killer job. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do."

Be sure to stay tuned in the coming weeks for the new album's cover art and tracklisting.

Monster Magnet - New Album Details

Monster Magnet have revealed more details for the upcoming new album Mastermind. The album is scheduled for an October release via Napalm Records.

Monster Magnet songwriter and frontman, Dave Wyndorf, described Mastermind as follows: "It's a big, beefy ball of demented anthems and power rock. The music itself is exaggerated and muscular. Like classic rock gone insane! Giant hooks, giant sounds. The rockers are direct and intense. The ballads, trippy and strange. It's guitar heaven.

The lyrics read like a fever-dream of life in the 21st century. Cynicism, optimism, satire, sex, deluded fantasies and dead-on reality. They're all here - sometimes even in the same song! In my world, images, information and emotions tend to intertwine. I'll describe the smallest details of my personal life in crazy, cinematic terms. When I write, the words play out in my mind like scenes from a movie and that's the vibe I tried to capture on Mastermind - rapid-fire emotion. What can I say? I'm having a weird life and I have to write it down that way.

In the end though, Mastermind ROCKS, and that's what's most important.

Mastermind tracklist:

01. Hallucination Bomb
02. Bored With Sorcery
03. Dig That Hole
04. Gods and Punks
05. The Titan Who Cried Like A Baby
06. Mastermind
07. 100 Million Miles
08. Perish In Fire
09. Time Machine
10. When The Planes Fall From The Sky
11. Ghost Story
12. All Outta Nothin'

Gifts From Enola - New Album Stream Available

US Post-Metal/Post-Rock act Gifts From Enola are streaming their self-titled new album online. You can check it out at this location.

The accompanying press release says: "Gifts From Enola have created an album that finally and perfectly captures the intensity of their live show and expands upon all of their past ideas ten-fold. Or maybe they've simply taken past ideas to their logical extremes, destroyed them, and birthed brand new ideas from their ashes. Either way, the band continues to evolve at an astonishing rate and further pushes their sonic spectrum into an unclassifiable area that is all at once hard to explain, but impossibly easy to listen to. And we don't mean that in the "easy-listening" genre of music sense either. If anything, the band has become more technical and heavier than even the heaviest parts of From Fathoms (their critically acclaimed 2009 release), not in a "breakdown-and-beat-you-over-the-head" sort of way, but more in the album's overall sound.

With more attention to dynamics than ever before, and a recording that truly demonstrates a band approaching a creative zenith, the new Gifts From Enola album is a lock to defy expectations and raise the creative bar yet again. Easily staying ahead of the pack by pushing themselves to color outside any preset guidelines laid down before them, the band has never intentionally shunned convention - but simply write music with their collective heart on their sleeve.

The album was mixed and mastered by Moving Mountains guitarist/vocalist Gregory Dunn with artwork handled by Three Bears Design. This marks the bands third full length release, following up Loyal Eyes Betrayed The Mind (2006, The Mylene Sheath) and From Fathoms (2009, The Mylene Sheath), as well as a split CD with Seattle, WA's You.May.Die.In.The.Desert (2008, Differential). Gifts From Enola is a band through flirting with their potential, as this album proves, this is band that has fearlessly reached the next level."

Here's the link to the stream again.

Gifts From Enola cover art] tracklist:

01. Lionized
02. Dime And Suture
03. Alagoas
04. Grime And Glass
05. Rearview

Enthroned - Changes In Pentagrammaton US Tour

There has been some slight schedule changes in the North American leg of Enthroned's Pentagramaton World Tour 2010. Due to delay in the acquisition of US Visa's for both Enthroned and Deströyer 666, some dates of the tour have been postponed. Here's an update on the situation:

"Enthroned and Deströyer 666 received their visas way too late from the US Embassy due to the slow going of some people involved within the booking process. Both bands received their Visas on Wednesday 4th when we were supposed to be already on the plane flying towards the US, the plane tickets had to be re-booked and unfortunately there was no single flight available from Belgium to the US with that company before Friday evening. Deströyer 666 had the chance to get their flights on Thursday from London direction Newark Airport.

We are utterly pissed off and frustrated by this lack of competence shown by those persons involved, but each situation has its good and bad sides and do not worry this tour will happened and here's all the information:

- The NY show is postpone to the 31st of August
- The Virginia show is also postponed to the 1st September
- Raleigh & Atlanta will happen but unfortunately without Enthroned, we tried our best to make those gigs happened but well at least Deströyer 666 will be there and will kick your fuckin' arse!
- Then we will join the tour in Tampa FL, and the rest of the tour will happened just as planed.

I guess its useless to say that we are pissed off and quite annoyed towards the fans over there who got fucked by those incompetent people but we insist on the fact that we can only feel sorry for those unprofessional persons, our hatred is at its paroxysm and one thing is for sure: we'll unleash all that fury and frustration on the following shows, we count on you, each show shall be a fuckin riot!"

Jag Panzer - Update On The New Album

Jag Panzer's guitarist Christian Lasegue has checked in with the following update:

"Sorry it's been so long since we've posted any info! But here's the deal: We have been writing and demoing songs for the new album, Scourge Of The Light. We have one more to go and then we'll begin the actual recording process. The songs are sounding great!

The whole process has been slower than we'd like, but everything is on track and SPV/Sony plans to release it February 2011. We just viewed the artwork for the album cover and it looks amazing! We'll try to do a better job of keeping you all informed: maybe some video footage of us in working in the studio, as well as general updates on our progress."

Omnium Gatherum - Sign To Lifeforce Records

Finnish melodic death metallers Omnium Gatherum have signed a deal with Lifeforce Records. The band will enter the studio this month to record their fifth album and an early 2011 release is expected. The band issued the following statement:

"We're very pleased to announce that Omnium Gatherum is now a part of the Lifeforce Records family. After a lot of consideration and negotiating with many parties, we came to a conclusion that Lifeforce is the way to go! They've been showing the right kind of interest in us for some time now and it seems that they have the same honest attitude towards music and mayhem as we do.

The material for the 5th Omnium Gatherum masterpiece is now almost finished and we're ready and 100% confident to hit the studio in the end of August. This time we've really put a lot of time and effort on the pre-production of the stuff. It's going to be an epic and massive attack of ever flowing stream of Finnish "melodic death metal", straight from the souls of black.

The album will be out early spring 2011 and before that the Omnium Gatherum crew will escape from the studio and tour Finland with Dark Tranquillity."
