Ion Dissonance - To Release New Album In August

Official press release

Montreal extreme metal purists, Ion Dissonance, recently completed the recording process for their much anticipated new effort, Cursed, which is set for an August 24th North American release. The offering was tracked at .357 Productions with Ion guitar player, Antoine Lussier at the production helm.

Kevin (vocals) further states: "Since Cursed is now recorded, mixed and mastered we want to take a moment to clarify a few points. We have been getting asked a lot of questions and we want to make sure that we are all on the same level and answer these questions once and for all.

The official release date in the US and Canada is scheduled for August 24th. A few release dates have been getting thrown around and we wanted to put the questions to rest. Also, our new friends at Basick Records will be releasing Cursed in Europe. The record will be out there on August 23rd and finally, Doom Patrol in Japan will be releasing the record there on August 24th as well. Both the European and the Japanese versions will have their own exclusive tracks, but more info on that later.

To fill you in on this situation, we were originally planning on an earlier release date but unfortunately we encountered a few obstacles along the way, mainly mastering the disc. This made an earlier release date impossible. Another perfect example is the artwork. We wanted to work with Paul Romano but he is obviously very busy and we felt that waiting for his services was a better option than looking elsewhere. We love Paul's work and are insistent on having him follow up his work on Minus The Herd. So now that we have the artwork in hand we can definitely say that the wait was worth it.

All this to say that when Ion Dissonance decided to get together over a year ago to come out with our best work to date, we wanted to take every little detail into consideration to make sure this record was everything we ever wanted an Ion Dissonance record to be. With that being said, we'll move on to another situation which needs to be addressed. After three long years of winging it as a four piece, we are now back to five members. Yannick Desgroseillers (formerly from Tears From The Sky) has now joined the ranks and will be playing bass, a role Sebastien has been filling in on since Xavier left the band. This switch will allow us to play some new songs on our upcoming shows, which to us is an unbelievable excitement. We can't wait to get out on the road this summer and see some familiar faces. It's been too long."

Spiritual Beggars - Part Ways With Vocalist, Replacement Announced & New Song Sample Online

Official press release

Spiritual Beggars have parted ways with vocalist JB, and welcome their new singer: Apollo Papathanasio.

Michael Amott comments: "This will be a surprise to most of you, but it's been mutually decided for some time now that JB would step down from his role as the singer in Spiritual Beggars to focus on his own band. We had a fantastic time working with JB. We remain great friends and we wish him the best of luck!

"We decided to make a new Spiritual Beggars record and to find a new voice - and we found a killer singer that lives in our hometown. Some of you will already be familiar with him as a singer in the Greek metal band Firewind.

"We've had a blast in the studio and it's been highly satisfying on a creative level. We have already confirmed some shows in Japan later in the year and we are in the process of booking more concerts around the world. We are looking forward to getting the new music out to the fans and playing live again"

A short sample of new song featuring Apollo Papathanasio on vocals is available now at the Spiritual Beggars' official MySpace.

Spiritual Beggars, the Swedish band featuring Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo, is currently mixing its first new studio album in five years for a late summer/early fall 2010 release. The CD was recorded at Sweetspot Studio with producer Rickard Bengtsson.

The band previously stated about the new effort, "We used a lot of vintage equipment in this process and we got some really amazing tones.

"To describe the music itself, we feel the songs are strong and melodic with a lot of '70s and early '80s hard rock atmosphere?

"If you are a fan of our albums On Fire and Demons, we are pretty sure you will also enjoy this next chapter..."

Elvenking - New Album Update

Italian metallers Elvenking have issued the following update on their official website:

''While the band is still around Europe playing (thanks to all the fans who came to our latest gigs!) the Elvenking machine is still going on at full speed behind the scenes.

At the moment Dennis Ward is mixing the album in Germany, while on the other side of the planet, artist Samuel Araya (you probably remember him for the (in)famous Cradle Of Filth's Thornography cover for example) is giving life to the atmospheres contained in the album through his paintings.

And while the album production is taking its final shape, the band is ready to shoot the video for the new track "The cabal" on June 5th and 6th, with director Mirco Andreis who previously worked with the band on "The Divided Heart" video.

The time is slowly coming..."

The Project Hate MCMXCIX - New Album Update

Swedish metallers The Project Hate MCMXCIX have issued the following update:

"Finished up the last tune for the coming album yesterday, as mentioned. Yep, there sure are some Gojira influences in a part, there's no denying that. Great, great band. There's also some old-school death metal influences as well as a dash of Exodus and Candlemass at times. You don't even know what's coming your way with this fucken monster, trust me on that. We have stepped up not only one, but a few notches with this material - that's a fact.

Today I sorted the parts for vocals in the latest tune as well as picking out all the parts in all songs where we will have amazing guitar solos courtesy of the fantastic Mike Wead once again. Now I need to finish up the last lyrics for this final track. Ruby is about to record some more pre-production material for the remaining tracks as well and I can't wait to get those, to say the least. It's so great to hear what she puts into our songs and how much of a difference it really makes compared to our old vocalissas, even though they have done a good job over the years - but Ruby's exactly what I have been looking for all my life it feels like. Outstanding girl. Outstanding. I'm sitting here listening to all the tunes with a huge grin on my face, blasting the tunes fucken loud, much to the delight of my neighbors, I'm sure.

Still no news on the label situation. We had some interest last week, but after that I haven't heard anything from them. They really dug what they heard from The Lustrate Process and all as well, so that's weird. I'm not chasing after them though. If they wanna sign us for this album - they will sign us. If not, well, it is what it is. Fuck it then. Good label though with a great roster. We'll see what happens, I guess. All I care about is composing the best damned material I ever composed in my life - and I am content with that for the time being. What happens - happens."

Lord K. Philipson added: "All of my lyrics are now done and it feels fantastic. Now I'll just work even more on the songs until completion of this beast, as mentioned before. Also, all of Mike Wead's sections for solos (there will be a bunch) have been picked out and sent to him so he can put down his magic starting sometime soon. We'll keep you updated on the label situation and Ruby's pre-productions as we go along. Stay tuned."

As we wind down the touring for Enemies And Spite and begin thinking about the next Marionette album, we are hoping to squeeze in a brand new song we are working on our new vocalist Alexander Andersson.
