Vengeful - New Bassist Announced

Canadian metallers Vengeful have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Hello everyone!

Short post to inform that Dominic "Forest" Lapointe has joined Vengeful. Some of you might know him for is work with bands such as: Atheretic, Barf, Quo Vadis and Augury. Vengeful is more than eager to add is talents to the band's sound and his unmistakable presence on stage.

On that note, we just wrote our first song together and things are sounding a bit more chaotic as we never had a bass player in the room while putting new stuff together. More on that later... We'll be hitting the stage with the new lineup soon to get the chemistry flowing a bit more before we finish composing this monster of an album we're working on.

So thanks a bunch to all our supporters and friends that showed up early to catch us with Kataklysm, sorry for the sound quality but that stuff happens when you the opener. We still had a blast!

Until next time checkout Immolation's and High On Fire's latest releases!"

Power Quest - Line-Up Troubles Continue

Power Quest have parted ways with their vocalist and guitarist, for a change. Here's the official word from the band:

"Power Quest has parted ways with frontman Pete Morten and guitarist Ben Randall due to musical differences. Needless to say: ''the split was amicable and everyone in the Power Quest family wishes Pete and Ben all the very best in their respective musical endeavors."

A new vocalist has already been found and the band is hard at work rehearsing new material with him. In the meantime, Power Quest is looking for a new guitarist to join the line up. Dedication, commitment and drive are essential, as is the ability and desire to tour and rehearse (one weekend per month in the U.K.) as required. Experience is obviously an advantage but is by no means essential."

More info on how to apply here.

Geïst - Change Name To Eïs

German black metallers Geïst have been threatened by copyright claims over their name by a German rock band also called Geist. In order to avoid lawsuits and fines the band decided to drop the first and last letter and renamed into Eïs. The band's statement reads as follows:

"We, The Artists Formerly Known As GEÏST, have decided to re-name our band into EÏS. This decision is official from now on. EÏS will withdraw into its cavern for an uncertain time. What is certain is that we will be back one day this year, and even more certain: more resolute than ever.

If you wish to express your lack of comprehension for this decision, please directly send your lovely messages to an alternative rock band called GEIST from Cologne, founded in 2000 (www.myspace.com/geistrock), which have forced us to re-name our band by threatening us with law suits and fines. Certainly you will have heard of these guys. *cough cough!*

Well, seems you, our loyal listeners and fans, have made us really big and successful. At least too successful for the Cologne rock star boys to stand our overwhelming existence as GEÏST. Thank you very much - and expect our return later."

The Human Condition - Flotsam & Jetsam Vocalist Joins Project Of Sacred Reich Guitarist

Vocalist Eric AK of the legendary Flotsam & Jetsam has joined The Human Condition.

The Human Condition performed a surprise five song set at the Nino Notaro Memorial Concert on Feb, 20th at Club Stratus in Phoenix, Arizona. It had been a well kept secret that guitarist Wiley Arnett (Sacred Reich) and Eric (Flotsam & Jetsam) had joined forces.

Flotsam & Jetsam were scheduled to share a stage with Sacred Reich for the first time in nearly 18 years, about 1,500 of Arizona's core metal family members all came together to celebrate the life of Nino Notaro. For the unenlightened, Nino was an amazingly talented sound engineer that worked with both bands over the years. The event raised money for Nino's daughter "Sophie'" to start an education fund. THC felt it would be cool to debut the new line up at this special event.

When THC initially took the stage metal heads in attendance seemed a bit confused to see Wiley strap on his guitar and Eric begin checking the mic. THC drummer Muley counted off three stick clicks and they were off, by the second song it was clear there was a new band out of Arizona to consider.

With the addition of Eric AK on Vocals and Johnny Urwin on Bass, THC has returned to the scene with renewed vigor. Anyone that witnessed the debut performance would agree that THC is fresh, relevant and rooted in a bit of metal history.

The band is busy writing and has added a 6th song to their set list since the show.

More info about the band on http://www.myspace.com/thehumancondition.
