Eluveitie - Two Members Quit The Band

Posted on Eluveitie's official website:

"After a long time playing together with us, Sevan (flute, whistles, bagpipes) and Rafi (bass) decided to leave Eluveitie. Both of them came to this desicion due to personal reasons. Both, Sevan and Rafi, were longtime members. Sevan was with Eluveitie from the very beginning on. So their step was kind of a shock for us. Yet we also understand and accept their desicion. We won't forget the years we spent together and we wish Sevan and Rafi all the very best on their future musical as well as personal ways! "Thank you both for your dedication and for the time we spent together the last four years! Take care & horns raised!!!

Sevan and Rafi will still play with us the next couple of shows! But of course we're now looking for worthy replacements - a bass player and a multi-instrumentalist well playing bagpipes (Gaita and similar), tin and low whistles and eventually Irish flute. If you're interested in playing in Eluveitie, then click here!"

Theocracy - Signs To Ulterium Records

Theocracy have posted the following update:

"Theocracy is happy to announce that they have signed with Sweden's Ulterium Records for the release of their sophomore album, Mirror of Souls.

"We're very excited to finally get this album out," says band founder Matt Smith. "Ulterium really understands what we're about, and they believe in this record. We're really looking forward to working together."

Ulterium Records owner Emil Westerdahl shares that excitement, saying, "I've been a fan of Theocracy since the release of their debut album, and I'm thrilled about this opportunity to work together with them on "Mirror Of Souls". This album will surely be received very well by both critics and fans, and exciting times are definitely ahead for Theocracy!"

The material on "Mirror Of Souls" expands on the epic, melodic Metal style that Theocracy introduced on the self-titled debut album, and the addition of drummer Shawn Benson and guitarist Jon Hinds has added a new dimension and energy to the sound.

"Mirror Of Souls" is being mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios, and the cover art was designed by Invisible Creature. Look for a full song to be posted online in the coming weeks, and for the album to be released in early fall 2008!"

Anubis Gate - Enter The Studio In July

Danish metallers Anubis Gate have issued the following update:

"This summer will indeed be far from inactive in the Anubis Gate camp! We will start recording the drums at Hansen Studios early July, and after the drums have been tracked, guitars, keyboards and bass will be recorded at Kim Olesen's studio.

Jacob Hansen's vocals will be done at Hansen Studios, and Henrik Fevre's vocals + backing will be done at his own studio. The mix will be done mid August at Hansen Studios.

Locomotive will release the album February 2009.

All the songs have been written and lyrics are being completed as we write this.

We feel very strong about the new songs, that very much are following the lines of Andromeda Unchained, although with a twist. There's a feeling that some of the newer songs will be heavier, leaning a bit towards the hard riffage from "A Perfect Forever", as well as there are some new elements and surpising twists to the Anubis Gate sound. Every one of us is anxious to get started!

Stay tuned for a detailed studio report starting the 30th of June!"

Helheim - New Guitarist Announced

Following the departure of Guitarist Thorbjørn, Norwegian Viking Metallers Helheim have announced that his replacement will be Syrach guitarist Noralf, who had filled in for his predecessor during the band's recent European tour. Thorbjørn's decision to leave the band was taken after he felt that he wanted to concentrate more on other projects based on 70's Metal/Rock.

Drummer Hrymr made the following statement:

"We are truly sorry that Thorbjørn has decided to leave the band. He has been a central part of Helheim since he joined us in 1999. We owe many fantastic riffs and great ideas to that weird mind of his! Along with Lindheim and others he intends to focus on his project Sinking Sea, and we wish him great success for the future. On a positive note though, we have not had to go through a long process to find his replacement. Noralf is a fantastic guitarist, and he has already played and toured with us, so we know that he is the right person for the band. This will not affect his work with Syrach, and we are very happy he decided to join us permanently; we consider ourselves fortunate to get him".

Helheim caused a stir recently when they launched their sixth album "Kaoskult" in a Norwegian Kindergarten, where they played a shortened acoustic set to the children. Commented Hrymr "We had absolutely no idea when we set out to do it, that it would have been so positively received world-wide. To us it seemed like a great way to launch "Kaoskult" by doing something that would teach the new generation about their Norse heritage. It appears to have struck a chord with many, many people on all levels. From fans who wished their own education systems would allow them to explore different types of music, to people who applauded the idea of teaching children about their heritage, and doing it in a way that made it interesting and fun".

Crystalic - Vocalist Leaves, New Announced

Finnish metallers Crystalic have posted the following update :

Jarno's statement:
"It's time to go ahead. I have to leave Crystalic because my heart isn't 100% in the band anymore. I've always been a singer/songwriter and I want to continue my own musical journey. That means composing my own music from now on (as it was before Crystalic). I wish Toni and the rest of the band great future on their career."

Band announcement:
"On the same breath we'd like to announce the addition of Matti Auerkallio (ex-Farmakon, Foxy Flammable, Avenie, Duality) as Crystalic's new singer/frontman. Matti is a really talented multi-instrumentalist and he growls like a demon and sings like an angel! So expect some clean vocals on our next album. The recordings are scheduled for the next fall."
