Turisas - New Album Details Revealed

Finnish folk metallers Turisas strike back with the frenetically awaited follow-up release to 2004's acclaimed debut "Battle Metal". Titled "The Varangian Way", this opulent and inspired masterpiece was recorded at Sound Supreme Studio and then mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studio

Vocalist and producer Warlord explains the complex ideas behind this stunning new opus: "The album is based on a concept story which is fictional, but strongly tied to real historical persons and events. It's a journey of a group of Northmen, who travel down the East-European river route through the lands of modern day East Europe. The album follows this journey and the songs are events that take place on the road. As much as it is a journey of these men, it is also a journey in a search for self and identity - something which the protagonist is going through throughout the story. The varying surroundings can clearly be heard on the album as it features a lot of influences from the different cultures and people our travellers would have encountered on their journey."

"The Varangian Way" will hit stores in Europe in June and will contain the following new battle hymns:

01. To Holmgard And Beyond
02. A Portage To The Unknown
03. Cursed Be Iron
04. Fields Of Gold
05. In The Court Of Jarisleif
06. Five Hundred And One
07. The Dnieper Rapids
08. Miklagard Overture

Static-X - New Album Info And Audio Streams Available

Static-X is breaking out of Hell's sub-basement to release their fifth studio album, Cannibal, on April 3rd. The band will also kick off a headlining tour on March 30th in Santa Ana, CA. Comprising 12 of the harshest, most stripped-down tracks Static-X have ever recorded, Cannibal also finds frontman Wayne Static & Co. sounding leaner and meaner than they have in years?a change the vertical-haired guitarist, vocalist and chief songwriter attributes to the back-to-basics approach they took to recording the album. "I think it's the most metal record we've ever made, and it's arguably the heaviest record we've ever made," Static explains. "But with this record, I had a good time just getting back to balls-out screaming and challenging myself vocally, as well as in the songwriting. I felt like I was back working on Wisconsin Death Trip, where I focused on stripping away the excess as much as possible to write short, simple, catchy songs."

Static-X's face-ripping, "No Submission" gave fans their first taste of Cannibal when it landed on the soundtrack for Saw III. The band has since released the title track "Cannibal" and "Destroyer" to iTunes for download. Cannibal marks the first time in the band's history that they have released back to back albums with the same line up. Static remarks, "Even though we've got three-quarters of the original lineup today, we've been through a lot of changes to get back to this point." One other major change for the band was teaming up with a new producer, John Travis (Kid Rock, Buckcherry). This change took the band out of their comfort zone to create an album that make Wisconsin Death Trip sound like pop singles in comparison.

Bloodbath - Back In Business

The following statement has been posted today on Bloodbath's official website:

Bloodbath is finally back to put elite death metal on the map. The brand new line-up is shortly to be officially revealed, but has already paved way for a band hungrier than ever to bathe in the blood of a new recording. So in early June, we'll once again enter Fascination Street studios (same place Nightmares Made Flesh was done) to cut a couple of new songs. In good tradition, each member will contribute to the writing with one song each. The final result will be unleashed in the form of a mini-cd scheduled for release in late summer. This affair will be self-financed and released only by Bloodbath in a limited edition. Info on how to obtain your copy will follow with the announcement of the exact release date. So stay tuned and get ready... because Bloodbath is back to DO-MI-NATE!

Vader - XXV Jubilee Album Update

Vader is currently working at Hertz Studio, Bialystok (Poland) on the band's 25th anniversary album. Peter Wiwczarek (guitars, vocals) checks in from the studio:

We have just finished all drum-tracks for the anniversary album... Daray drummed never so much hard in so short time before: 26 songs in almost a week !!! At the beginning we didn't plan to make "a regular" studio session for this record...There was to be 15 hits taken from Vader's discography and we supposed to be done in three weeks (two weeks in March and one week in September). We decided but to record 25 (!!!) songs (for XXV jubilee)- and this is a big difference indeed...Like I mentioned before, we put an attention on Vader's first releases,so: there are 6 songs from "The Ultimate Incantation"; 5 from "De Profundis" ; 4 from "Black To The Blind" ; 3 from "Litany" and one from "Revelation" and "The Beast"...The rest are mini albums and...surprises.

We "upgraded" some of the songs and left the others in the original shape. This time Daray was plying on His brand new Premier drum kit - with whom He just signed an endorsement for the whole World. He should to say more about it in our "news" section soon. There is a time for guitars now... Mauser is working with His part since two days already and I start today as well...We're gonna work together. More details soon....Greetings from the Hertz Studio in Bialystok (Poland) !!!!

Sinergy - Album Update

According to the official Children Of Bodom fan site Scythes Of Bodom, guitarist Alexi Laiho revealed that Sinergy's long awaited fourth album "Sins Of The Past" is still not complete. Some solos and vocals have yet to be recorded - work that could be finished in only a couple days - but it seems there is a risk that the previously recorded material has been lost. The material was reportedly nowhere to be found last week. No further details have been released, but the search continues, and Alexi seemed hopeful that it hasn't vanished permanently.

"Sins Of The Past" was originally due to be released in 2005. Recordings began in June 2004 at Finnvox Studios.

Sinergy features vocalist Kimberly Goss, COB's Alexi Laiho and guitarist Roope Latvala and Stratovarius/Kotipelto bassist Lauri Porra.
