Metalkult In Norway - Mini-Documentary Available Online

For four days in March 2008, MetalKult's Brad Angle and Jimmy Hubbard took a journey to the grim-cold heart of Norwegian black metal: Oslo, Norway.

"In this revealing four-part series, we catch up with a few of Norwegian black metal's leading acts. We go on a pub crawl through Oslo's hottest metal bars with 1349's Seidemann (bass) and Archaon (guitar), visit Notodden's ancient Heddal Stave Church, head off to Emperor/Zyklon drummer Trym's Emperial Tattoo studios (where Hubbard gets some seriously Nordic needle-and-ink action), hang with Emperor vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn at his Symphonique Studios, tour the rebuilt Holmenkollen Chapel (which was burned in 1992 by members of the black metal community), go to Helvete (the late Mayhem guitarist Euronymous' record store and informal black metal "inner circle" headquarters) and chat with Satyricon in their cavernous rehearsal studios."

Go to this location to check out the four videos.

Theocracy - Signs To Ulterium Records

Theocracy have posted the following update:

"Theocracy is happy to announce that they have signed with Sweden's Ulterium Records for the release of their sophomore album, Mirror of Souls.

"We're very excited to finally get this album out," says band founder Matt Smith. "Ulterium really understands what we're about, and they believe in this record. We're really looking forward to working together."

Ulterium Records owner Emil Westerdahl shares that excitement, saying, "I've been a fan of Theocracy since the release of their debut album, and I'm thrilled about this opportunity to work together with them on "Mirror Of Souls". This album will surely be received very well by both critics and fans, and exciting times are definitely ahead for Theocracy!"

The material on "Mirror Of Souls" expands on the epic, melodic Metal style that Theocracy introduced on the self-titled debut album, and the addition of drummer Shawn Benson and guitarist Jon Hinds has added a new dimension and energy to the sound.

"Mirror Of Souls" is being mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios, and the cover art was designed by Invisible Creature. Look for a full song to be posted online in the coming weeks, and for the album to be released in early fall 2008!"

Anubis Gate - Enter The Studio In July

Danish metallers Anubis Gate have issued the following update:

"This summer will indeed be far from inactive in the Anubis Gate camp! We will start recording the drums at Hansen Studios early July, and after the drums have been tracked, guitars, keyboards and bass will be recorded at Kim Olesen's studio.

Jacob Hansen's vocals will be done at Hansen Studios, and Henrik Fevre's vocals + backing will be done at his own studio. The mix will be done mid August at Hansen Studios.

Locomotive will release the album February 2009.

All the songs have been written and lyrics are being completed as we write this.

We feel very strong about the new songs, that very much are following the lines of Andromeda Unchained, although with a twist. There's a feeling that some of the newer songs will be heavier, leaning a bit towards the hard riffage from "A Perfect Forever", as well as there are some new elements and surpising twists to the Anubis Gate sound. Every one of us is anxious to get started!

Stay tuned for a detailed studio report starting the 30th of June!"

Crystalic - Vocalist Leaves, New Announced

Finnish metallers Crystalic have posted the following update :

Jarno's statement:
"It's time to go ahead. I have to leave Crystalic because my heart isn't 100% in the band anymore. I've always been a singer/songwriter and I want to continue my own musical journey. That means composing my own music from now on (as it was before Crystalic). I wish Toni and the rest of the band great future on their career."

Band announcement:
"On the same breath we'd like to announce the addition of Matti Auerkallio (ex-Farmakon, Foxy Flammable, Avenie, Duality) as Crystalic's new singer/frontman. Matti is a really talented multi-instrumentalist and he growls like a demon and sings like an angel! So expect some clean vocals on our next album. The recordings are scheduled for the next fall."

Kreator - Enter The Studio In July

German metallers Kreator have issued the following update:

"Kreator will enter the Titonus studios in Berlin on July 20th to record the highly anticipated follow up to their 2005 release "Enemy Of God".

For the yet untitled album the band will be working with German top producer Moses Schneider.

"The pre-production in our rehearsal studios went really smooth" says bandleader Mille Petrozza. "Moses´s way of working with bands takes place more on an emotional then on a technical level, wich means the album will sound very raw and direct. We´re trying to capture Kreator´s live energy and will be using nice vintage analogue equipment for the recordings this time. Expect a massacre!"

The release date for the album, which will be mixed by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, etc) in London, will be January 2009, followed by an extensive world tour. Stay tuned for more details, a complete re launch of the Terrorzone and studio reports soon!"
