Dan Swano - Update On Second Sky Projet And More

Multi-talented Swedish producer/musician Dan Swanö provides an update on his upcoming Second Sky project (released via The End):

"The work on my most precious project Second Sky is coming along just fine. The drums have been finished since quite some time, but I decided to cut one track and add two new ones to the record to add a bit more variety to the album, so Peter Damin had to step into the studio one more time to nail these new songs, and as usual, he nailed the songs in about 20 minutes each!"
"Most of the lyrics will have to be rewritten because of my divorce, but life goes on and I have already finished some of the new lyrics. The songs ready for the vocal work are "Hammer On My Heart," "Right The First Time," "The Sacred Room," "The Way" and "Always Tomorrow." All the rhythm guitars that I should play have been recorded, the stuff left for session guys is still to be nailed. I have also recorded all the grand piano and keyboard stuff. The production of the album is top notch and I am very proud of the basic sounds I have created this far. So the next few months will be spent recording the vocals and the bass. After that the album will undergo the most demanding mix of my career -- but it will be worth every second. Prepare to be blown away!"

In other Swanö news, he plans to re-open his legendary Unisound Recordings studio. Comments Swanö: "'THE LEGEND IS BACK!' I always wanted to write that! I have decided to re-open the gates to Unisound Recordings, where I recorded bands like Opeth, Katatonia, Marduk, Dissection, Millencolin, Edge Of Sanity and many, many more."
"This time things will be a little different though. I am not planning to build a big studio with tons of expensive gear. My primary goal will be to mix stuff: albums, songs, the sound for a DVD release etc. I will also do remixes and such."
"Over the last year or so I have mixed albums after work and the clients have been pleased with the results and I'm beginning to wonder if I should do this full-time again? So, before I quit my day job, I just wanted to see if anyone is still interested to work with me? Let me know at: dan@swano.com
"For reference, you can contact the guys from Novembers Doom, Edens Fall, This Haven or The Project Hate. I have also done remixes for Pain and, of course, my own stuff like the yet-to-be-officially-released 'Nightfall Overture' album with Nightingale and I am also working with my magnum opus Second Sky."

Raismesfest - Symphorce & Machine Men Confirmed

After Dragonforce cancelled their performance, the Raismesfest is proud to announce that Symphorce and Machine Men will take their place on Saturday 10th of September.

Unfortunately, the Japanese band Loudness might cancel their tour in France and so their appearance at Raismesfest. If this was to happen, a new band of the same caliber would replace them.

Raismesfest will take place in Raismes, North of France, near Belgium, on September 10th and 11th, for a very cheap price! (?30 for 2 days and camping!).

Cradle Of Filth - Dave Pybus Rejoins The Band

Cradle Of Filth's frontman Dani Filth posted following message in their website about upcoming album, line-up changes and more..

"Latest News...

Greetings fans, friends, fiends and boys and ghouls of all persuasions.

Things have been going exceptionally well in the Cradle Of Filth camp of late, with the American airing of 'Viva La Bam' being shown for public consumption at the beginning of the month; (we're pursuing the European showing date even as this is being written... )

And, more importantly we have over sixty per cent of the new album under our belts; including the following laments... 'I Am The Thorn', 'Lovesick For Mina', 'The Byronic Man', 'Cemetery And Sundown', 'Libertina Grimm', 'The Flora Of Nightfall, The Fauna Of War' and 'Dirge Inferno' to name but a few. There will also be a band instrumental on this new musical opus, which, although remaining untitled as yet, will be a first for the band in its eleven year career. The initial start date for recording the album is scheduled for October 10th.

On the DVD front, a cover representation will be posted shortly with the title of 'Peace Through Superior Firepower' and pending the documentary of backstage shenanigans, being completed over the next few weeks, by Dani and guitarist Paul Allender, a release date of late October/early November is to be expected.

Book-wise; 'The Gospel Of Filth -The Midian Bible' is coming on very nicely with the chapter about 'Serial Murderers' currently being expounded upon. Next month's arrival of the 'Member's Only' chamber on the website entitled, 'The Order Of The Dragon', will see excerpts from this unholy tome being revealed unto the unwary with the countdown to the release of the book's special edition (which features an extra chapter by Dani Filth and is signed by both authors alike in a gilded leather-bound cover... ); sometime early next year.

Incidentally, this 'Members Only' chamber will not only include up-to-the-minute information, but will also feature live band chats, video messaging, special promotional items, tickets for exclusive one-off shows, downloads, competitions to win band property and interaction with band decisions in the form of consensus and polls (i.e in deciding titles, themes, new products and songs etc, etc...) to name but a few. More on this as it arrives.

Last but not least, some other strange occurrences have been happening to the band line-up since last I put severed wrist to paper; in the form of a further departure, a turnaround and a come-back! It has been known to the select few that this band is a sum of it's parts and sometimes more than just a band, sometimes more a lifestyle, so it is not often surprising that, (as magazines and other creative workplaces do all the time), people unfortunately come and go; yet the entity that is the band remains the same. The plan has always been to deliver on the musical front for at least another five to ten years, regardless of what and whom are in the line-up.

Dream Theater's acclaimed 1999 concept album "Scenes From A Memory" is being turned into a full-length stage play. Adapted and directed by long-time Dream Theater fan Danni Segal, this is a prose play, not a performance of the CD.

The play runs for four performances from 17th - 19th of November, 2005 (that's 3 evening performances and 1 Saturday matinee) at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, East Sussex (between Hastings & Eastbourne in South-East England).

As this may be the only time this is ever done, anyone interested is warmly encouraged to come along and see it while they can.

Manntis - Signs A Deal With Century Media

The explosive Southern California quintet Manntis have officially signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. The group’s debut album, “Sleep In Your Grave”, is set for a October 17th, 2005 release in Europe. The disc was produced by Cameron Webb (Danzig, Motörhead, Social Distortion) and features blistering tracks of unrelenting metal intensity. The group have been influenced by a diverse number of bands ranging from Meshuggah and Pantera to Hatebreed, to name just a few, and their pummeling sound reflects the combination of these influences.

Manntis originally formed in 2000 and immediately began playing anywhere and everywhere possible. Their stunning stage presence was undeniable and overwhelmed anyone that stepped in front of them. The buzz spread quickly throughout the underground, but their biggest break would come in 2004 when they gained worldwide recognition from their participation on the hit MTV show “Battle For Ozzfest.” The group are now out to prove that they can easily go head to head with the genre’s elite.

Jake Sirokman (vocals) further conveys his excitement over the recent signing: “We're extremely happy to be with Century Media Records. We love the other bands on the roster and are proud to be alongside them for years to come. One thing is for sure: some people may have heard about us because of the 'Battle for Ozzfest' show, but we're a dedicated band with over five years in the scene, not just some reality show poseurs looking to extend our 15 minutes of fame. No doubt that ‘Battle for Ozzfest’ was a great opportunity, but we're grateful that CM saw through smoke and mirrors of TV and saw us for the band we are. Bottom line, we're here to bring the fucking metal. See ya on the road."

Manntis recently embarked on the “Battle For Ozzfest Tour,” in the USA with A Dozen Furies and CYN, the show’s other two finalists. A European tour is following as of November, 2005 with The Haunted and God Forbid.

Aborted - Sign To Century Media

Century Media Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of Belgian death/grinders, ABORTED! "It's been a very hectic, intense and heavy year for ABORTED," says founder and lead vocalist Sven De Caluwé. "Yet a year in which we have done tons of amazing things, went to amazing places and met a lot of cool new people. One of those amazing things is being signed to a label we believe will be able to lift this band to new heights. They believe in us 200% and are going to help us take the next step in our careers."

The band is gearing up for a North American tour this fall with Suffocation, CRYPTOPSY and DESPISED ICON. This will serve as the band's first full U.S. tour ever! As anyone who saw the band at their Maryland Deathfest appearance can attest, you do not want to miss out on this historical event!

"With our North American tour we will finally be able to get out to the U.S. and Canada and do some damage," De Caluwé says. "Needless to say we are extremely thrilled to hit the road and to be a part of the growing Century Family, a company that stands for nothing but quality releases and that strongly supports every cool act under their wings."

ABORTED's latest offering, The Archaic Abattoir, was licensed in North America via Century Media/Olympic Recordings on May 17th. It has been called "an epic in its own right" (Outburn) and a "highly proficient slab of ultraviolence" (Decibel). Hear and see what the fans and critics have been raving about starting September 28th at a venue near you!
